I generally think techno sucks - I'm more into IDM and electro. But there are some good techno artists out there. "Dimension Intrusion" by FUSE [1993 Plus8 records :: http://www.discogs.com/release/554 ]is one of my favorite albums of all times - if you want to hear some quality techno, find that album. If you're on slsk, I got it for you. I'm also down with the the old UR crew - but thats more techno/electro.
techno tends to disappoint me because it can be so boomboomboom generic - but there are diamonds in the rough. trance is for dorks/etards.

I actually just started assembling a mix of east coast techno (hard/minimal tech). It's mostly stuff like Nigel Richards, Frankie Bones, Madam Buddafly and stuff like that. I like techno, but I mostly listen to (and spin) electro and dnb.

Goa and psy music is great -for me - with or without drugs. That was not the point. I hear it mostly everyday with great pleasure anyway and i only use drugs quite occasionally.
What i was recommending is a sort of a mindstate. Have you ever done what i said?
If you ever do, you'll understand why i added the drugs and the sunrise part 
Is is really something special. Utterly mindblowing. If it hits you like it hit me and many people i know, that combo (psy-trance + trance dancing + t'he great outdoors' + people with great vibes doing the same as you) is capable of changing the way you think and see life. In a different way than psychedelics alone can. It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't gone through that.
Aside from all that, once you learn how to 'tune in' to that music, other people's vibes and your surroundings (and psychedelics can help a lot in that), you won't need the drugs anymore to attain the same feelings...
