amazing story, though the ending could use a bit of improvement. You know, like existing for starters.

Should I give up on ever hearing the end of this story? This was my favorite trip report ever and I'm really sad that I may never know how it ended.

Good bump! I remember this from a long, long time ago and remembering how much I liked it. I got to read the rest of it and was sad to see it hasn't been concluded.

A successful trip report is engaging the reader with the setting, characters, communication with eachother and such. This report has done all of it.

Ending!
Ending!

Hah. Good ol' Bob.

Part 16

This is the last part I had written before I stopped posting
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had walked this very path once or twice in the past, sober. For the life of me I couldn?t recall how much more remained or when the next time would be when we could rest again. It was a mere 10 minutes prior when the three of us sat nestled in the shade of the forest in the middle of the trail, but it felt more like years. Every motion I made felt labored including the trip itself. I didn?t know how much more my mind and body could take. Hallucinations started to become second nature to me. I shrugged off the amazing glowing streaks the dragonflies left behind as they screamed past my face.

The three of us started to walk with purpose. Although none of us spoke out loud, the mental consensus was to get back to the nature center and sit around and wait until the remainder of the trip wore off.

Brian, who was now walking very sluggishly in front of me, was now grasping his wrist, as though he was trying to conceal it from Bob and I. I wanted to ask him if he was ok but I remained silent. ?God forbid something actually be wrong with him and we would have to deal with it out in the middle of the woods,? I thought.

The trail opened up and hugged the edge of another large meadow. I couldn?t be sure, but it seemed like it was the same large field we first encountered at the beginning of the hike. I scanned the horizon to search of the trail that originally guided us into the forest but saw nothing. Still I was sure it was the same field and I felt a rush of relief rush over me. ?I think we?re getting close to getting back,? I said to Bob and Brian. Bob stopped and looked back. ?You think?? Bob replied. ?Yeah. This looks like the same field we first saw,? I said. ?They all look like the same field we first saw,? Brain replied. ?I thought the same thing 5 fields back. . .forest, field, forest, field, forest, field. . . I think we?re stuck out here.? ?We?re not stuck out here,? Bob replied. ?Jay?s right, we are getting close, I think I hear the river.?

We stood there silent. Brian and I struggled to hear a river. The more I struggled to hear a river, the more of everything else I heard. Birds singing, crickets, an airplane, a distant gunshot, more birds singing, the buzz of a cicada, but not one sound of the rush of water. ?I?m telling you,? Bob said, ?I hear a river. It has to be two or three hundred yards up the trail.? ?Well, lets get going then,? Brian replied, ?I really need to sit down.? I looked at Brian grasping his wrist and felt a sense of urgency to end the hike. I almost let the question slip out of my mouth. ?What?s wrong with your?? But I stopped myself. No need to create any unneeded panic I thought. If there?s something wrong, he?ll let us know.

Hey great report.

But seriously where is this nature reserve, I live in Michigan so I'd like to visit it and all the crazy places you tripped.

P.S. The wrist thing is bugging the shit out of me

So that is the end? I think that you owe it all to everyone to tell what was wrong with the his wrists. I also would like to know where the hell that damn park is. I live in Saginaw, MI and it sounds like you live in the city buy I don't know any state parks down by detroit. You might be from grand rapids or something and I don't know anything about the western side of the state. Just hook me up with the name of the park because I want to trip there when it gets warm.
