LSD seized near OSU campus
June 4, 2005 - 10tv.com
Narcotics officers seized more than 4,500 hits of the hallucinogen, LSD, in what authorities are describing as a major drug bust near the Ohio State University campus.
Lab technicians say it's some of the most highly concentrated, potent LSD they have ever tested, judging the thousands of units to be worth tens of thousands of dollars on the streets.
The doses look like a sheet of paper. But closer inspection reveals hundreds of tiny perforations. And police say each is coated with the liquid drug LSD.
Narcotics detectives started making undercover buys a few weeks ago, targeting people who they say looked the part.
"The hippy generation, if you want to call it that,” is how one undercover detective described the look of the suspects.
Detectives say they bought LSD from Justin Perry and Timothy Alexander. Both of them now face trafficking charges.
The investigation ended in a raid at an apartment on
Chittenden Avenue
where detectives found the 4,500 hits of L-S-D, worth about $22,000 on the street.
"It's definitely surprising and scary in the same regard because of the dangers that come along with a drug like LSD," a detective told 10TV.
Tyra McDonald and Troy Williams face first-degree felony possession charges.
Douglas Crook, is facing less serious possession charges.
Police call the arrests and seizures significant. But undercover officers suspect there's a lot more where this came from. Still this bust could put a dent in the local LSD trade.
Williams and McDonald, the two people accused of felony possession, could face the next 10 years in prison if convicted.

A Lancaster woman arrested last year with more than 5,000 doses of LSD was sentenced to prison yesterday.
Tyra N. McDonald, 25, told Judge Richard A. Frye that she was addicted to LSD and other drugs when she was caught in a Columbus police drug raid a year ago. She pleaded guilty in April to possession of LSD, illegal drug manufacturing and racketeering.
"I was so far gone on my addiction," she told the judge in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. "I don’t want to lose my life over it."
Frye sentenced her to 10 years in prison and a mandatory fine of $18,500.
"They were soaking paper in LSD right on site, and police found both liquid LSD and its solid form," Assistant County Prosecutor Jeff Davis said. "The crime lab said it was the purest LSD they had ever seen."
The raid at 86 Chittendon Ave. on June 1, 2005, also turned up Ecstasy, mushrooms and cocaine. McDonald’s boyfriend, Troy R. Williams, 29, of Heath, is to be sentenced next month for similar crimes. Police said they bought drugs from two men working for the lab before searching the house.
The racketeering charge accused McDonald and Williams of leading a criminal enterprise.
"You think this was not a violent crime. But it is a violent crime to users, and it caught up others into the world of LSD and distribution, especially on a college campus," Frye told McDonald, noting that the illegal-drug lab was near Ohio State University. "This is a very serious crime."
Defense attorney James D. Owen said McDonald is cooperating with authorities.

After finally trying LSD, I understand why people do it, make it that is. If I had the capacity and ability, which unfortunately I don't, I'd make it my life's work and turn as many people on to it that wanted and as possible. But I would sell them for $1 hit, or enough to cut even/survie, fuck making money.

It sometimes still is. The probably won't serve all of the 10.
It's a horrible shame, but I was expecting worse. Some kid on the west coast recently got a huge (even bigger than this one, I believe) sentance for selling like 25 hits.

they may have been manufacturing methamphetamine or MDMA. That would qualify as a lab, although empty two liter bottles and some plastic tubing qualifies as a lab in a police officers eyes. For all we know he could have just had some glassware or other equipment that looked like it could be used in a lab.

What are you talking about? 4,500 hits isn't worth anywhere near $22,000. With 4,500 hits you're going to be selling at least sheets. At $100 a sheet that's only worth $4,500. You can get up to $250 a sheet if you really hustle, but if you're trying to move 45 sheets you're not going to get that much. Even if you were able to get $250/sheet that's still only $11,250. So they doubled the max street value at the sheet level and claimed at least 5 times what they actually would have likely gotten for it.

I guess it really depends on who you know and where you live. sadly, in the shithole where I live anyone who knows where to get quantity of good shit milks his connection for all it's worth. I pay 8 bucks a hit for acid, but I get kind bud for 200 an oz. thankfully I know growers. I need to find someone who makes L. Maybe I'll raid a rye field, harvest a few garbage bag's worth of ergot, buy some cheap lab equipment, and take it upon myself to flood the market with acid.

$200 us an ounce? and u know the growers? fuck drugs are expensive down there...I can get really good shit for less than $200 canadian an ounce and its not even from the grower...but I best not say anything else cause I don't wanna come off like I'm braggin...I'm just really surprised how pricey the shit is down there...I guess its partly from the added risk
to be honest tho I would gladly pay $500 us for a sheet of acid...u should be glad that its in your area at least(I know I am) lotta places u can't even get it even if u were willing to pay $20 us a hit

You guys are gettin ripped off. Acid retails for about $5-7 a hit sometimes as high as $10 for really good stuff when it's dry.
So if you're paying $500 a sheet then you're going to have a hard time making any money. The general rule is that the price almost doubles at each step in the chain. $5-7/hit = $30-40/10 strip = $150-300 sheet = <$1,000/bible.
So realisticaly those 4,500 hits were worth about $4,500, if that.
Man, I wish I had $1,000 and a good hook! Cid is so easy to get rid of. Of course, it's been a long time since I've been in the game. I'd probably have to pay $250-300/sheet, but if you're hooked up it shouldn't be too hard to get one for $150-200.

exactly and when driving always obey the rules of the road where your seatbelt...don't over do with shit on the car that may suggest you use drugs....theres no reason to bring unwanted attention to yourself..I've been involved heavily with drug culture since I was young and I have never even been arrested(Tho obviously I came close as a stupid kid)

agreed. i never dress like a hippie. i always dress sharp (button up white shirts, black pinstripe pants) and try and look least dodgy as possible. when it comes to dealing with these sorts of things it also pays to be very friendly to people as well (not just the dealers/buyers) and remain calm collected and always smile and nod. a shady looking character easily attracts unwanted attention

how i wish i was there as his defense attorney when the judge said it was a violent crime. I would have said, so do you hold alcohol and gun merchants responsible for murder when their products are used to kill people? what about the tobacco companies? Did you know that every year those three things kill 1000 times more people in one year, than lsd has ever killed in the history of its use. Yet you sit their with your smug sense of justice and put someone away for a substance that bred an entire decade of culture in our country, because you and your fellow judges feel its an atrocious violent crime. But the argument i suppose isnt about logical justice but what biased opinions make into laws.
