It just seems like a collosal misunderstanding. And then the children got up in arms about it, which sure didn't help.

I agree... about the bandwagons, again, it boils down to respect for others,
maybe they havent heard that respect is somethinng earned, you cant get it by
demanding it or by riding others coat tails, if you cant show any, you certainly
wont recieve any

I ride no coat tails, I assure you. I object to the harshness of Hanky's punishment. A permaban was certainly not warrented in this case. And it was just icing on the cake to me, considering all the other bans that have been handed down in recent times. Quite frankly, it seems to me that there are those who still object to OTD, and seem to be doing their damndest to neutralise it, if not eliminating it entirely. Keep it up. Perhaps the day will arrive when there's no one left to ban....

No, that's not what's the matter. Hanky obviously posts with content and thoughtfulness. The fact that this picture was "grounds" for his permaban is bullshit.
I don't give a fuck how things get sorted out here. I just see this as a bad call to permaban a guy who is actually a tremendous asset to our community and a person who stays within his OTD bounds.
I mean--you saw how he respected Pub rules when he was put in there for awhile. He's not a cunt like Super_Blunt.
This whole matter just reeks of wrong-headed, high-minded ideology and not the practical issue at hand.

And if you'd care to look at the tone and context of Hanky's postings (okay, aside from poo pics in the pub), you'd see there is a cleverness and thinking behind them that may not be immediately apparent.
All I'm saying is that, a chicken sex picture is SO ludicrous to stand as a justification for a permaban...there's a reason we say, "The straw that broke the camel's back." But, really, the shroomery has a stronger back than a pitiable camel; and chicken sex pics are digital--they weigh less than a shoot of straw.

The tomato seeds you sent me wont germinate, its been two weeks.
I covered them with just enough dirt to not see them, then a little more, and ive watered them everytime the surface gets dry. They are in nice soft potting soil.

I think the ban list should be wiped clean and let OTD become the freedom of speech forum for the entire internet community....and then it will become so huge we will be able to change the world with mass movements and protests organized on the forum

They germinated here within 5 days at 25?C. If the temperature is lower, it might take longer.

Never let the soil, even the surface dry out when germinating seeds.

I read.
I guess I misunderstood the value the administration places on banning for bad behavior and the cumulative effect of these bannings.
It all strikes me as harmless mischief. So many of our users come here and post not sober or giddy and post things that could be construed as poor taste....
And Hanky may have been stone-cold sober when he posted that pic. I don't know. It's irrelevant. He would not have done it if he had thought it was going to bring this consequence.
I know that if I post shit pics in the Pub, I will get banned.
Hanky didn't expect this, and he didn't post that picture with the intention of pissing the mods or admins off.
The problem here is that OTD standards are enforced with an arbitrary--whimsical--code. It changes all the time. And arbitrary rule is Tyranny.
C'mon. This is clearly a bad call on the permaban.
I respect the mods and admins here as they devote their free time to keeping this site up and running smoothly. I simply see this as a sudden enforcement of stated "rules" in OTD on a particular member. There is a disclaimer on OTD. It's there for a reason.
I just have to respectfully, and vehemently, disagree with the admins on this one.
