So I found these in some grass in portland, and im wondering what they are exactly, so i know wether or not they should be ok to eat... When they were picked they had flat light brown caps, with white/near white stems and were groing in a grassy area. The stems were pretty thin before I started drying them, but if theyre what i think they are theyre pretty out of season.. so im not sure what thats about though weve been having some very strange weather lately.
thanks a ton guys. thumbnails cuz theyre big pictures

I cant help you with an ID but i personally dont think they are active (hallucinogenic.) If you weren't interested in activity and just wanted to know if they are edible wait for someone more experienced.

Welcome to the Shroomery zwei.
We need more info to ID little brown mushrooms.
From the rules thread:
Quote:
It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.
A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable.
Along with the pictures (if possible), please include the following:
a. Habitat (where [state/province/country] and what does it grow on) b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc) c. Measurements of cap and stem. d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc) e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc) f. Spore print color (very important!) g. Color that the mushroom bruises h. Scent of mushroom
Anybody would just be guessing without a spore print. I can however assure you that they are not active.

Identifying dried LBMs is nearly impossible without comparing the DNA of your finds with the DNA-profile of known species. In short: can't be done.

ok as for more info the gills are attached, light tan to white inside. The stems are white, and hollow, they were found in grass lawns in the city. The caps were almost all flat, some were a bit wavy. The caps were tan colored, but darker towards the center of the cap, and near white at the edges. They smell almost like dog food, not very good smell but similar to the smell of active mushrooms ive had before.
Thanks though in any case, I appreciate the help.
