Hygrometer from Lowes goes up to 80% then just says "Hi"
    #3981059 - 03/28/05 05:02 PM (19 years, 5 days ago)

The brand is Accu-temp ($20 Lowes), anyone know if I can change the settings, etc, or if it's just what this model does? Please help. :frown:

Over the past week I have looked into a ton of hygrometers and I have come to the conclusion that they really aren't very useful. Even the ones that cost a couple hundred dollars state that their reading can be off by as much as 5% at a humidity level of 90% or more. Many of them don't even read over 95% and I'm talking about the more expensive ones! You really cant expect the $25 ones from Kmart or walmart etc to give you a very accurate reading. If your chamber is designed properly and you aren't fanning every 2 hours, your humidity should be fine.

i agree with powertrip, hygrometers are TEH SUCK. If you know what your casing's should look like, you're fine. If not, post a picture and ask if its too dry.

Hair hygrometers are accurate in the 90% to 100% range.

Actually I just looked at the hygro I have and it's the accu-rite brand not accu-temp, my mistake. I am an information and control freak when it comes to science. I want an accurate and reliable hygrometer. I will look into the radioshack one but are there any other ones i need to look at also?
