red dots that dissappear

I've got little red dots in my substrate that dont tend to spread - they always get overgrown by mycelium - are these contams. nasty?

Any color other than white is contamination. Have you smelled the jar?
Tired of pimping yourself on the corner to afford spores? Well throw out that red dress and go to the FSR, for spores even you can afford.

There is no smell at all - and they seem to just fade then dissappear as the mycelium grows toward them...

could that be the rust from the lids? You were asking about rust from lids in another thread...maybe it is that, no??

Yeah thats what i though it might have been, but its sort of a light red/pink and i woudlnt really expect rust to dissappear - but that would explain why it doesnt spread
