If you are looking for real-life info on mushrooms, this thread's the place to be! Here you'll find many of your questions answered by the Shroomery Community, and if you're a Mushroom tripper then by all means take the questionnaire and add to our knowledge
Far too few people visit the Polls Forum so since this is Trip Tips I decided this is the place to lay this questionnaire on all of you. In two posts you'll get some of the most frequently asked questions as a clickable poll so you can answer and look for answers in a jiffy.
The best-known shroom is the Cubie (Psilocybe cubensis or "Golden Top") and it's the mushroom tripped on in 4/5 trips. If you buy mushrooms, they are most likely Cubies.
Below is a clickable pic of how a baggie of dried Cubies may look:
Most mushroom people have got experience with it, so I'll use the Cubie as the gold standard in the dosage questions.
Please do not give bogus answers, it's an anonymous poll, you can see the scores without voting by clicking the line at the bottom of that questionnaire. I will post the poll in 2 installments so don't forget to vote in the second part too!

There are some very clear patterns already and quite some surprises (as many trip indoors as in nature and nighttripping is preferred 2:1 while 12:0 like closed-eyes/darkness visuals) emerging. Please don't forget to vote for the second block!

to everybody out there, try a trip at the crack of dawn. wake up at like 6 am and ingest the mushrooms and head out to watch the sunrise and the waking of the world from a mountain or something. best few hours of my life, best afterglow ever.

shrooms are so emtional for me, that if i start when it is light out, and it turns dark i become depreesed. and im MT in the winter (when i shroom most, cus the weed is no where to be found) the light goes away at 5 so i shroom at night and have a very late night.....

Lots of reasons!
Some people do weird stuff to see if it can be done. An example would be me. I have snorted weed-crumbs to see if the THC would be absorbed intranasally like the Discovery Channel said about cannabis-based Zulu War Snuff.
I wanted to see if that medicine man was full of it 
Naturally he wasn't: I got very high but ofcourse never repeated.
Other people do weird stuff to see if and how it gets them where they want to be. An example would be Columbus who sought the East Indies but found the Americas as a side-effect of going West instead of East.
After all: the effect might be unique or stronger, thus cheaper achieved, and fasting would be unneeded.
Other people just like sticking stuff up their arse 
Through these intrepid adventurers we know that you can put an Ecstasy tab in a syringe , DMT can be vaporized instead of injected  and the prostate can best be massaged from the inside

The whole psylocibe-anal-injection, while a little out there sounding... I do believe. While not having done it myself, I did witness a friend inject meth into his (anon) arm with a mixture of c0ke, and while the effect was instantanious, the sickening feeling that attached itself made it seem hardly worth it from what I could tell. I don't disapprove injection/enema... but I would recommend caution considering the direct-effect. Some drugs are enjoyed due to the lasting effects given.

For the record:
Street Injection is jabbing a needle into your flesh and introducing dangerous contaminants into your system.
It's very dangerous.
Enema is squirting a liquid into your butthole and holding it for 10-30min before pooping it out.
It's very odd, but not dangerous per say.
Please, not another anus debate

Mushrooms tickle the senses (or cauterize them) and if you're lucky your Higher Self is awakened by it, either it reaches out or you pray to be saved from the onslaught of 12 grams dried. (did that once, not the praying, fortunately! Now, older, wiser and far more sensitive i'm that lone "one gram average dose" statistic)
The hardest spike at the moment is that a whopping 86% of 35 people say that Closed Eye/Darkness Visions are the place to be. And indeed, if you didn't do that you're missing out on something precious

Wow, 12 grams dried? the most I've tried was 3 (bad yet marvelous trip) and I'm planning on 5gr soon. Maybe it's just a phase, but I find less than 1.5gr hardly worth (I don't really use mushis recreationally). Do you use it just for a little insight perhaps?

If your 3gr was bad (meaning you had problems handling it i assume), why go for 5 grams?
If you use modest amounts incidentally (the statistic kinda leans toward once every two months) for some time you will typically become MORE sensitive to mushrooms as time progresses. At first it has to yank it out of you, but later on it takes a speck of Shroom and an oomph of your trained mind and you will get more then you ever did on higher doses before.
My most profound trip in terms of hallucinatory carnival was on 12 grams. My most profound trip of all was on 0.5gr Liberty Caps.
I left my body behind on my bed and my spirit sat wrapped in a blanket in the icecold desert night by a campfire, as a Spirit Teacher layed it all down to me.
Soon a spiritual Brother comes over for a Trip. I haven't decided how much I will take, 0.25gr, 0.5 gr perhaps 1 gr of very potent cubies. He has said he'll likely go for 0.5gr.
On my last 0.5gr trip I overflowed with memories and sequences of visuals of the distant past, including toddler memories, what i saw and felt and even sitting with my legs outstretched in a baby tub 2ft long
All the details I saw were confirmed by my father later on and my very limited field of vision (a blur starts beyond 2ft) proved a biological trait of, well, babies.
I came to insight on many things of my life as I am in the "perinatal" Death/Rebirth sequence of Ego Death.
Said Brother, on 0.75gr, had a mighty confusion at first but a clarity came which guided him from that Session onward.
Tripping is a 24/7 commitment.
How can 1.5gr hardly be worthwhile if YOU are worthwhile?
A low dose is every bit as profound as a high dose if you truely open yourself to it.
It is still you and the mushroom, your brain opening up on 4-HO-DMT.
The biggest trap is to think that you need more mushroom to get more spirituality: You tend to get more carnival and more confusion with higher doses, but the Spirituality is within YOU, not the Mushroom, and if you use incidentally (once every X months) your spiritual growth will be measured in being ABLE to experience a Deeper effect with LESS mushrooms.
Challenge: if you know what outdoor camping demands (hypothermia measures etc) I dare you to go into the woods on a moonless cloudless night and take one gram of mushrooms with your ass on a Planet and Infinity above.
I can almost guarantee you that unbelievable spiritual profundity will befall you.

I had to sort things out with myself that's all. That's why I said that it was a bad YET marvelous trip. I learned so much about myself and everything else, and felt SO free... in fact that sensation has never gone away, and it was by far my best trip ever. I agree openhearthly. I didn't mean it that way. You see, my friends use to think of mushis as some funny drug and take just 1gr for laughs. I tend to be more spiritually involved with mushis and like larger doses. So as you can see, I'm a little biased. But I agree smaller doses can be very spiritual. (I just prefer LSD in those quantities, more time to think. I prefer mushis for harder trips)
I hope this clears up the confusion, I didn't mean any disrespect at all. Just my way, you know :P

I have nothing against high dosees, in fact I did quite some of those. But some high-dosers look down on low-dosers and advise enormous amounts to newbies, often based on their own tolerance.
Ah so you're a "low LSD, high Mushrooms" kinda tripper! Contrary to popular belief I myself find LSD -milder- then Mushrooms, it's only heavy load lies in its duration which is twice that of mushrooms.
LSD to me tends to be more generic and "clean" while Mushrooms are all over the place with fuzzy little details and "organic" visuals and at higher doses it presents itself as an Entity, which I didn't experience with LSD.
My own experiences with mushrooms outnumber those on LSD by 7:1 and I've always been connected for a blot or dot and Shrooms are legal headshopitems here in Holland! (in the UK too nowadays, but more hesitantly)

I totally agree with you. Mushrooms are more overwhelming (specially in visual terms) IMHE, but the duration of LSD is too much to go with large doses for me right now. I don't feel ready yet for a full blown trip on LSD, and it's impossible to get here in Spain also so...

I don't quite fall under that category. I find the 1-1.5gr range the best for the first time. Even tho my first time with LSD was a fairly large dose I think is too risky. Better to increment the dose after a few first mild trips, just to know where you're heading.

First of all, great poll. However, the question: "Do you close your eyes or like darkness when you trip?" is not appropriate given the choices available. For myself, it all depends on mood and the direction I wish to guide my experience. However the two choices available only provide for an all-or-none response.
Other than that, I would just like to stress that persons new to the psychedelic experience should aim to eat 1gram dried or less of p. cubensis, as these drugs are very powerful and most everyone with no prior experience regarding hallucinogens will receive a profound and exhilarating experience from 1g or less of properly dried cubensis. My first dose was ~0.5-0.75 g dried and it absolutely blew me away, any stronger and I likely wouldn't have been able to function in the environment I was in (some public arenas at nighttime, with a sober sitter, and one other friend tripping). Even if that first dose doesn't hit you as you would have preferred, there is always room for expansion on your next venture into psychedelia, and one ought to always remember that you simply can't 'take away' what you've already eaten, so it is best to start small and work your way up to your desired level.

I have to disagree with the LSD being milder than shroom. At least from my experiences;
Mushrooms = Connectedness/Oneness with the earth, OBEs, thought provoking or profound thoughts about one's personal identity, OEVs (I stare at something and it will turn into something else), Intense CEVs, Mild auditory hallucinations, moderate euphoria, paranoia (sometimes), moderate time dilation.
LSD = INSANITY and CRAZINESS! Visual manifestations of auras and vibes, Extreme auditory hallucinations including mock Schizophrenia (hearing voices but just temporarily as hallucinations), Connectedness/Oneness with the UNIVERSE, Intense CEVs and Intense OEVs (including seeing "entities"), extreme paranoia, extreme dysphoria, extreme euphoria, mania and MASSIVE time dilation just to name a few of the key side effects.
The biggest dose of shrooms I've taken is 9 dried grams, the biggest dose of acid I have taken is 4 hits of some primo ass shit. I can honestly say that the acid trip I had was much more INTENSE than the mushroom trip (though the mushroom trip was very intense too, just not nearly on the same level of intensity).
I think either I'm getting bunk shrooms and GOOD acid or you guys are getting DANK shrooms and weak acid, or maybe some people just trip harder off of one than the other. As for me if I'm trying to trip real hard (to the point of certifiable insanity) I take LSD. If I'm trying to trip for mental healing or bonding with nature/earth I eat some mushies.

On the comeups I still sometimes get the empty feelings.... Like everything I live for in normal day life is pointless. I find it hard to understand how I could get any enjoyment from anything at some points

The questions are just questions: it's all about the ANSWERS!
Like you i am very dissatisfied with newbie dosage recommendations. Currently the statistics say the community advises to use within the 1-2gr ratio (the pinpoint was <2.2gr last time I checked at n=45) and at that time the average dose used by the users themselves fell inbetween 3gr and 1/8 oz (pinpoint 3.3gr)
Especially the newbie dosage is humongous.
If you apply the ratio 6-12mg psilocybin per gram of good cubies as I saw in a Dutch study 2.2gr equals some 12.5-25mg which is a walloping amount.
For incidental users of modest amounts and newbies I personally deem 1.5gr (9-18mg) the total max as it reaches just into the therapeutic ratio of full effects (which is 8-20mg or 10-20mg in Shulgin's TiHKAL) but personally I would start somebody out on 0.5gr as you *never* know somebody's sensitivity and issues and for most people 0.5gr (3-6mg) is definately impressive but readily resistable.
You should not resist mushrooms, but if you give a newbie a tough dose of mushrooms and they get a bad one they will feel quite literally mind-raped.
Mushrooms are highly personal. In a really bad trip people tend to feel molested by the drug on a startlingly intimate level. Hence, rape.
This is quite detrimental to establishing basic trust in the Mushroom, and I would introduce someone to the Mushroom to build a mature longterm relationship with it instead of getting high for kicks.
Us geezers got other priorities then the young'uns!
Please notice how the majority agrees that the time between sessions should be counted in months rather then weeks.
Last average I pulled was about 1x/2 months which has always been my personal recommendation but gets reflected in Group Consciousness.
I'm very pleased and pleasantly surprised how many of us are dancing with the Divine One for five years and over, and the 10+years group is very high. You can clearly see the mushroom *boom* was in the latter part of the 1990s, very much Shroomerites who got turned on then kept on Shroomin'

interesting points you've brought up. there have been a number of times when low doses have moved me into the otherworld with profound and lasting impact. although i must point out that i have also had profound and lasting spiritual contact with the otherworld on large amounts of teonanacatl.
actually, an experience similar to the one you recounted above, but with 5g dried.
my fellow shaman and i were camped in a high pass in the Canadian Rockies. we had spent the day gathering firewood from the treeline for a small fire (which in the end we did not light). the moon was in quarter phase and rose late. the profound silence and blackness with only the stars in their profusion above was a most profound experience of prebirth, and when the moon rose and lit the mountains below us we were most certainly in the otherworld.
since there is no way to render an understandable account in language (and the mere attempt would be to reduce the experience to the mundane), i will let you have to imagine what was like; surrounded in silver. (i am also quite certain that you can)
i have digressed from my point which was that while small doses provide deep spiritual experience when used correctly, one must not forget that now and then, you have to step bodily into the nagual/otherworld/whatever you want to call it. large doses have their place in dealing with the spirit world and the universe at large as well.

i'm with you on this one.
lsd-25 is, however, a little more spiritual in my experience. i liken the two to this.
hongitos open the door to the otherworld. you walk in, look around or cast your magic, and leave.
lsd opens the door and plunks you somewhere on the other side without a map and lets you fend for yourself.
then again i have done some large doses of lsd.

TheKnighterRant, it may sound mundane but by all means read the manuscript called "Best Tripping Manual" linked in my sig. It's mushrooms from a medical/therapeutic viewpoint and for a fellow shaman it contains vital information
By no means did I want to come down harshly on high doses of mushrooms. They most certainly have their place. But, a trend I see is that most high-dosers trip high-dose only because it allows them to elude confrontation. These people are quite happy on higher doses but would feel very uncomfortable on low doses because a low dose doesn't tend to take you *AWAY* like a high dose can.
With a high dose many can flee into *un*spiritual realms whereas on a low dose you tend to be cast onto yourself. When on a high dose Spirituality/Profundity cannot be ignored anymore, it often comes in the form of a bad trip.
In the land of one-eighths and one-fourths I am the ambassador for the Low Dose. All of you, listen very carefully:
On a low dose you often get nagging uncomfortable feelings. These are not caused by insufficient dosage, but by your resistance against the flow of the Life Force and resistance against the way of the world. If you learn how to feel at peace with low, non-overwhelming doses you learn how to find higher peace with your Self and the Universe at large.
And many, far too many are not really present in THIS world, so it is pointless and even dangerous to have them exploring/fleeing into ANOTHER world.
You state yourself to be a shaman, therefore I consider you to be one.
My personal experience is that even with 0.5gr of mushrooms you can leave your body behind on the wings of this Plant Teacher.
The Mushroom is Sacred to me and so i see the value of the high dose and the low, and the spirituality of being with the live mushroom and letting it's attractive force pull you across the fields to find it.

interesting stuff in that link, seeker. it is a pity that the establishment frequently denies the use of lsd and other mind altering substances for mental therapy. ahh, the short sightedness of the government. have you read Grinspoon and Bakalar's "Psychedelic Drugs Reconsidered"? It is an in depth survey of psychedelic drugs and entheogens and their use in theraputic and non theraputic settings, the laws and the consequences of their use and illegality. Highly recommended. I would assume that you are also familiar with the works of Leary and McKenna. Particularly Leary's when he was first investigating the use of lsd and psilocin before his "conversion". Personally, I am not in line with some of his more radical ideas of lsd as a religion in itself, but a number of his other proposals are valuable. One in particular is the idea of a professional class of 'trip sitters' (for lack of a better term).
One a different note, sorry if my tone was harsh, but i don't think i was ranting!

Grinspoon and Bakalar's "Psychedelic Drugs Reconsidered" aaaah I read that as an early teen! as a 13yo i believe. One of the first good books that gave me real information!
Because scare tactics just don't cut it. Even as a kid you see right through it. And if you read alot and connect the dots.. That's how most books are writtemn nowadays.
There's a vast body of information, all you need is people who see the connection nobody saw before.
McKenna.. The problem with his audio tapes is that at first you get the overwhelming sensation he's a nutjob.
If you see a tape/.wmv (like Timewave Zero) you refine this to a recluse nutjob shunned by normalcy.
That turns people off. If you want peope to know what Psychedelics are the last person you want is McKenna.
Nontheless he and Leary have held great points of view and had amazing insights.
The perfect wedding between science and science-to-be in my view are the works of Stanislav Grof MD, particularly LSD PSYCHOTHERAPY. Independently of him I came to the conclusion that any part of the Universe holds the Whole entirely: The Holotropic Universe.
Fantastic read, he even discovered a method where you can reach psychedelic states without psychedelic drugs called "Holotropic Breathwork".
I really believe that Psychedelics should be ingrained into our culture, that there are centers where you can go and explore the Within with aid of Psychedelic professionals.
Sidney Cohen once said: "LSD might be a drug for the best of us, rather then the worst of us." And I think he was right. People with psychologic issues need intensive guidance of a medical nature whereas the reasonably healthy are more in need of a structural guidance.
Psychedelics up the ante: there is more to lose but also more to gain then if you were not to partake.
So many of us keep filling in the Poll and let themselves be heard for the good of the community... We're gathering information here that is up to the greatest psychedelic studies. Over 175 mushroom trippers from all ages, grades of experience and all over the world have already aded their info. The Shroomery is a treasure for Psychedelic information gathering!

I am new to all of this, but I thank all of you for the insights and experiences to relate to. I have never tripped or taken any psychedilic before and am anxious to try mushrooms out. I am attempting to grow some and they seem to be doing fairly well so far. I have good colonization in 11 out of 12 half pint jars and hopefully in the next month or so can report on my first time to trip. Thanks for the updates and the info!

i thought it sounded like you knew your stuff. Grinspoon and Bakalar did some solid work, and i was particularly fascinated with how much argument went into the attempt to locate the proper term of reference for these substances (ei: what do we call them?). They were at least aware that diction determines ontology. Names have power.
McKenna did some solid anthropology too, though he does come across as a nut case sometimes. indeed, i am rather taken with his argument in "Food of the Gods" that self awareness, language and spirituality gave rise co-dependantly through primate hallucinogen use.
Grof's techniques (or ones closely approximating their results if not the particular format) for inducing hallucinogenic states are rather widespread in certain cultures where hallucinogen use is minimal or nonexistant (i am thinking of india here in particular, despite soma, which to me has not yet been positively identified and is clearly a lost sacrament). Eliade presents the argument (one i do not agree with) that hallucinogen use in religious/shamanic ritual is representative of 'degenerated' cultures where previously used non-substance related ecstatic techniques were lost. Harner also did some interesting work with breathing and drumming. Grof was clearly on to something, however i do have some problems with the theory of the holotropic universe. i believe that the universe is far stranger and mysterious than that, working from principles we are only beginning to comprehend. The idea of holographic conciousness is very compelling however. . .
it remains one of the great tragedies of theraputic medicine that hallucinogen psychotherapy was suspended. it worked for our ancestors for thousands and thousands of years.
"Psychedelics up the ante: there is more to lose but also more to gain then if you were not to partake." indeed. there is the old saw that man can never study the mind because we must use the mind to do so. i feel that psychedelics allow just such a study by altering our consciousness and allow at least semi-detatched self reflexion. One thinks and feels in a different manner. such a state can be useful in understanding your own consciousness and sapience. of course i could be talking out of my ass.

Thanks for the welcome. I am quite the fan of Erowid and have used it extensively to research other natural substances such as wild dagga, salvia divinorum, cannabis and acorus calamus. There is so much information here it is hard to tell where to start, however seeing the pictures in the grow teks gets me very excited! I'll keep you guys updated on things go when I get to that first trip.

great poll! I haven't posted in years (literally) but I'm not the least surprised to see this place turn into a real mecca of knowledge. 6 years ago I was lost, looking for deeper answers to the meaningful questions of life. The shroomery is one of a handful of resources I found that changed my life forever, and remains that way today, on so many levels.
At college, I had some friends who would insist you couldn't have a "good" trip (meaning achieving that sense of awe and connection with the universe) unless at least 2-2.5grams were ingested. I am happy to see that many people feel a single gram can be enough to send you to the moon. Wiccan_Seeker: you are absolutely right about putting yourself in nature on a moonless night, in cases like this, a gram is more than enough to invoke tremendous feelings. I think we live in an age of information(sensory)-overload, so much that we tend to block out much of what surrounds us. Edit: consider sensory deprivation, or imagine being in one of those tubs, a hallucination within itself. This can detract from a trip if you do not open yourself to the new perspective you're given on mushrooms, and is likely the reason my friends felt a medium dose was absolutely necessary.
we can't forget, tripping is not for everyone. Although I feel the majority of people who have never experienced a psychedelic experience could benefit from such an experience, sometimes its as though the opportunity to permanently change ones perspective has already fled and the utility in tripping would thus be severely dwindled (if that doesnt make sense I apologize) the bottom line is don't pressure yourself or anyone into tripping, it has to be a self-made decision, this is KEY!!!

GREAT poll, very interesting. A question, which I would make a thread but I'm new to the forms... I have always tripped with around a half an 8th at a time. I have enjoyed that, and while I may think about upping the dosage a bit I would like to know if you dose, then once you start to feel effects strongly (maybe an hour or so in) dose again.. Do you stay around the same level for a longer time or do you just keep going on up? Is it possible to repeat this over and over? Are you better off just taking a bunch at once? Help me out here..

For me, it doesn't work. I've done 4 then when the peak passed did another 2 to try and prolong the peak. Didn't happen. It just seemed to make the wind down last longer. I think you may only have one peak in you due to the depletion of neurohumors.
To WS, don't read too much into the low numbers of people who have been tripping for 20+ years. Don't forget the bias inherent in your sample group, i.e. overwhelmingly in their 20's.

The trick is to re-dose BEFORE or DURING the peak, not after.
The problem is, if you re-dose before the peak, you have NO CLUE how hard you are going to trip w/o the re-dose.

I was very surprised on way of ingesting them, 'anus'? That's a new one. I like alot of light in my trips, nature in the dark vs day, I'd chose day. I know I'll still have just as much fun either way. I think a question of where you're from in the poll would be good. I've never heard of anyone eating less than an 8th. Pacific Northwest. I think someone shrooming and someone not, do not go well together. Unless-that person is a shroomer, sorta. My first trip I had blue ringers, I don't what the scientific name is though. I'm very sorry for those whos trips aren't always easy as pie, and those who have ever had a bad trip. It's all positive to me so far.

The Strongest Trip I ever had was with cuz at a funtion I had 7-9g of cys and 3-5g or blue ringers It was Interesting If you were there you would remeber the great discusion of different things in the yurt and my third nipple

I've only tripped a few times and they've all been fresh from home. I took a a big dose my first time. 4.5 grams I believe. I prefer to trip alone in the dark...but it's cool with others as well. I tripped with my mother once.
I don't do it often and I do it for spritual purposes only.
I don't know if I'll trip forever...but I'm sure I'll trip again.

I find that when I trip with my friends who do drugs that i have generally worry my self into a bad trip cus they do something stupid and act very loud when were outside or very late at night.
They get mad at me because i usually keep my feelings and emotions to myself when I do trip
I find that when I am alone I usually don't have a bad trip.

great stuff!
The next one should be oriented at the general inside nature of the trips...
As things go im thinking more and more about recording the trips with a voicethingy because the conversations you have with your friends are way too crazy to remember all and many bear insightfull details or remarks which come from the heart and usually when you have good trips (ive been bad-trip-free for + than 2 years) the comedown is so special and enjoyable that i seem to forget the earlier parts of the trips (conversations, topic etc) and those are the most honest and intense parts thus the most "content-rich".
Im sorry for talking off topic anyway think about that paper, 500+ replies at least is a good viable indicator ; can be very helpfull for 1st timers i think.

:2cents: Talking about the whole anus thing, when it comes to humans, there are and will allways be those that will take anything to the extremes. Take x for example, I had this buddy that actually shoved 2 rolls up his anus. We laughed at him and called him a colon roller.
As far as effects, any chemical inserted into the anus will enter the bloodstream faster than ingestion. That is why after some surgeries, the patient is given an anal suppository of Phenergan.
I just read an article where this woman was charged with murder becuase her husband died of alchohol poisoning from her giving him a whiskey enema. :2cents:

Wow, 12 grams dried? the most I've tried was 3 (bad yet marvelous trip) and I'm planning on 5gr soon. Maybe it's just a phase, but I find less than 1.5gr hardly worth (I don't really use mushis recreationally). Do you use it just for a little insight perhaps?

I cant beleive those who would recommend 3.5+ grams to a newbie. That generally can tell you more quickly how many dont "get" the experience at all, and there are many inbetween. Its above their heads. And for those who dont see any harm in doing this stuff in massive 10 gram doses more than once per year, thats cause your not very smart, and couldnt possibly know what this is doing to you. partly cause It takes that much for you to trip "hard", and most of all, because you dont know what your looking for. Beleive it or not, alot of people think this stuff is just for an intense body high, good times, and visuals. Go figure morons would just end up takeing more than 10 grams at a time. These polls just go to show ya how stupid people are. If I were a newbie and took 5 grams, id look at those %'s and think, wow, even these shroomery people are stupid and nonobservant!!! Not to mention the ever so unhealthy anxiety attack that 3.5 grams+ could cause in a newbie.
None the less, these polls are interesting

This filthy couple I know have mushrooms growing out their asses. They haven't bathed in years. So when they feel like tripping out on some shrooms, they either eat each other's off their ass or just jam their own right into crusty sphincter and trip out for days, as they just keep jamming them up their rectums [rectum-wreckers] until they're gone and wait for some more to sprout, which doesn't take long with them. I can't even stand to go into their trailer.

This whole anus thing: lemme just give a couple of facts.
the reason that rectal dosing works is the same as sublingual (under the tongue) dosing. apart from the very top and very bottom of the gut, the blood supply goes directly to and through the liver before getting into the main circulation. the liver is where most metabolism goes on, breaking chemicals down into other, usually less active chemicals. drugs absorbed through the membranes under the tongue or in the rectum dodge the liver first time round, so more gets to the heart (and thence the brain) than via the rest of the gut, and faster too.
this is called the 'first-pass effect'. it is for this reason that some drugs need so much higher doses to be effective when swallowed compared to when injected - opiates, for example - as they are almost completely metabolised in the liver before they even get to the rest of the body.
someone made a good point up above, though - no active chemicals can be released from sucking on a mushroom, or sticking an intact one up your arse: the actives would need to be in solution, so tea or a blended slurry would be needed. my advice to anyone thinking of 'plugging' their mushrooms: get a life you sad creatures. they're practically free to grow in abundant quantities, so why bother with that nastiness?

I have gathered some interesting facts surrounding first-time dosing. I believe the best amount depends on the person and the mushrooms. I only deal with very strong mushrooms grown on seed and dung, so forget this if you are growing some BRF mushrooms or whatever. My experience shows that one must take the following into account:
Okay, for a first-timer, start with about 2.0 grams and then add or subtrace as follows:
1) How heavy is the person (body weight).
<110lbs - 1.0g
<160lbs - 0.5g
>200lbs + 0.5g
>270lbs + 1.0g
2) Does the person REGULARLY smoke pot (as in once a month or more)?
Yes + 1.0g
3) Is the person intellectual (college professional type), tense, in a difficult period of life now, or high strung?
Yes - 0.5g
4) Does the person regularly do LSD or other high-power hallucinogens?
Yes + 1.5g

ehm? why should intellectuals take less? also : do you consider intellectuality to be on the same level as being tense or having difficulties in life?
i consider myself a little bit of an intellectual, yet i find myself taking higher doses than most people around me.
The only things i could really agree on is : the lower your bodyweight the lower the dose, the bigger your personal problems AT THE MOMENT OF TRIPPING the lower the dose, the less experience with other drugs the lower the dose.
I'd say 2,5 grams is the best average for a firsttime trip, only take less then that if you weigh less then 60 kg. Never trip alone the first time, trip with a friend you can trust and 2,5 grams will be just fine. The last thing you want is a bad trip, but being hardly affected at all is almost just as bad as that.
Of course that's just my opninion, just thought i'd add an alternate view

I think he means that intellectuals need to take less (rather than should) because people who heavily invest in psychological and mental stuff tend to be able to intensify the trip with their mind more than people who go for esthetic pleasures and delicate emotions.

I think most people would prefer twenty trips of being hardly effected to having to go through bad trips like some I've seen. And worse still: some people emerge from bad trips with fullblown Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome which haunts them for months or years.

Good advice. The Shroomery average dose is two-thirds of 1/8oz, so a tad shy of your dose. I believe it is too much and that it should be 1.5gr at the very most, but I'm far, far away on the other side of the graph. I'm 300lbs and twice as sensitive as the average user.

take a deep breath and hold it for a second.. take another one,, deeper.. this relaxes ur muscles and in turn ur mood.
a simple smile if u can hold one is usefull for elevating ur mood too.
if worse comes to worse.. if safety permitting.. take off ur shoes. and stop what ur doing.. take a look around and ask yourself.. is there anything really wrong?

First off:
Dosage sometimes can be tricky. Ones that are picked at the right time are stronger as well as wild ones. I can't stand the taste of them. I've made a tea instead and it seems to start you off faster. I no longer do shrooms though, but enjoy looking for them for the heck of it. I don't pick'em, just like knowing they're there if i did want.
I just think it's amazing what they do. I also think it's a trip all active shrooms are edible as far as know anyway. Shrooms are a trip.

Reading that very interesting poll Has me wondering how I would go about smokin' some mushies, I like to smoke a lot of weed and to smoke mushies really does appeal to the smoke machine in me, also is it stronger to ingest them up your arse and how would i do that?

You could puree fresh mushrooms or reconstitute dried shroom powder with a bit of water to a sludge and squirt this up your rear.
The fact that this is more than twice as pften done as smoking shows how smoking mushrooms is indeed ineffective and very noxious.

None that i can percieve, though one time MANY years ago, i had stayed up for over 2 days doing coke THEN decided to trip ( before getting any sleep ) i finally fell asleep as soon as the peak started to dwindle.... it took me around a month to finally get back to what i consider normal.. i was certain i had become permanently " burned".... but as far as bad trips, not one in my life. a few times i wished the trip was over, but that was more of " my bodys exhausted" than any bad vibes going on.... but then again, my tolerance to everything ( except pharms ) is extremely high, and i miss out on a lot of the cool stuff, never get ANY visuals, cept maybe color enhancement.. so maybe its my tolerance that keeps things in check i dunno

I have not tripped since july and I am very ready for a good trip so prolly gona take 3 or maybe 3.8 i havnt decided it all depends on my setting this weekend.
wel, im going to take 1 gram with the lemon juice method and try that if it does not give what i want im just gonna munch the rest of my eighth.

I had a very difficult experience once. The mushrooms I used were bought from a friend. I only ate one nice sized cap. I got drowsy and asked my friend if I could lay down in his bed. I got up off the couch and started walking down the hall, suddenly, in the midst of the hall way I blacked out. I was still, barely, conscious. I couldn't see anything. Pure darkness. I felt my self bounce from one wall to the next and then I fell like a freshly chopped tree. Timber!!! I was still clinging to consciousness but was barely there. I hit the floor with a massive force behind me, chin first. It literally felt like my chin went through the floor. Man that really hurt! Then I was out... I came to when I heard my friends trying drag me outta the house to take me to the hospital. One of them said, "Damn he's heavy!" I looked up and they were all standing around me lookin' a little shocked. Then I blacked out again! Finally I came to on the front porch because I felt cold air on my face. They were holding me up on their shoulders walking me to the car. I sat down and regained my composure for a few minuets on the porch. I touched the ice that was coating it to ground myself. Through out the whole ordeal I never once felt like I was tryping.
I had a similar experience with nutmeg the day after I dosed my self up wit it. It was terrible. I got up to take a piss first thing in the morning after I had dosed up on nutmeg. Right after I finished pissing, I blacked out and fell to my knees, smacking my face on the toilet as I was coming to my knees. I hit my face directly on my left eye. I had one hell of a shiner after that. Needless to say I'll never use nutmeg again. As far as shrooms go, I've had a few nice experiences with them so I'll probably continue a relationship with them!
I read some where that this is not all that uncommon. Some people black out when they use mushroom. It was a little scary, I didn't use mushrooms again for about 3 or 4 years. But nearly every experience after that was decent.

I wish I could read all the replies instantaneously, but... I can't. I took the polls and I would like to add my experience.
Tripping is a constant experiment. At this stage in my life, I will not partake in tripping. My spiritual and emotional growth has shifted, and I feel the need to rely on myself for this growth, ie, no drugs at all for a good period of time.
This is not to say that I will never trip again. When life brings a key opportunity to trip, where I have no liabilities and am free of most mental cobwebs, they would be more worthwile using. Until then, the risk is too high for me and I have to work out some things the "normal" way.
The last trip for me was far too intense, 2 grams of potent cubes with an MAOI. It was at night, and I felt that I just needed to feel the sun on my face, the life energy that it provides. So I was sort of stuck. Other things contributed to the "bad" overtones of the trip, however I find it most comfortable tripping during the day or evening, and in nature.
Two grams is a nice dose. An eigth is just right. Five grams is interesting when it goes in the right direction. Fresh is great, air-dried shrooms take on the taste of the room they were dried in. Dry-ice drying is the best.
Closing my eyes during a trip at a sufficient level is good, and leads to nice CEVs which can be more intense than OEVs. I find OEVs more enjoyable, watching nature sway fluidly with the motion of the world.
Nasty tasting dry shrooms are nice encapsulated; Shroom-OJ blend is ok too. Chocolate shrooms are the best. I've never taken them anally but it doesn't sound like a bad route if you don't get tweaked out by the... well, idea of it. No stomach problems and best possible absorption of course. And no throwing up, just shitting out when you don't want to trip harder.

well yes and no.
reneraly it has no effect, but apparently there are exceptions.
ive experianced slight effects of smoking shrooms at one time
and none at all at other times.
cubensis definetly doesent do jack in smoked form but the one time i did feel an effect was with an unknown type of shrooms.
from the memory of what they looked like id say they were copelandia
but it was way to long ago to be sure.
anyways what it seemed to do is boost and prolong the effect of ingested shrooms of the same batch.
so personaly id say that smoking shrooms can have some kind of effect
but not without help from other unknown factors...

As far as ingesting goes I prefer to blend them in a smoothie or powder them real fine. IMO this helps you get off faster and with far less (or no) stomach problems. When I do this I'll start tripping within 15 minutes

That is to attempt a pure lemon extract from a fully colonized pint jar of substrate of Eleph Dung strain, into lemon juice... with no more nurturing... (i.e. straight from mycelium stage).

Just my 2 cents...
Iv'e had pink buffalo grown on poo for the last 2 years. Same strain,same source. 2 grams and I disconnect, level 5,4,3,2,1 blastoff haha level irrelavant, I cant even hold/smoke a ciggie at times.
I'm very spiritual and connected anyway.. any trip is profound, i've had
blast-off CEV's on .7 grms where even though I have a low tolerance my partner with the same dose was like wow how are these visuals! I've felt nothing on 1.5 grms though as well? haha
When i have a pile of aborts, I have experimented with small morning doses of .1/.05 even less. You don't notice it at all, except the mood elevation is quite noticable through the morning.
2gram is usual though, 1 is enough, more than 2 I doubt will send me further than 2 sends me anyway haha lucky me. 3 does the same as 2 IMO, for me.
U just need enough to break through to the " hello now I remember, welcome to mushroom land" state and then its set, setting and where your mind wants to go.

If you find yourself foucsing your heightened awareness while tripping in the direction of negative thoughts, you will become depressed. To add to the experience, I always put on some phsychadelic music, light candles, and set aside a large jar of weed. I do whatever I need to do to make myself completely comfortable in my environment. Some bong hits will always do you well on shrooms too; it'll put your mind at ease and let you relax and enjoy the feeling rather than fearing it. Your trip is always a result of what you make it; so do not fear your inner self. Take a journey within your mind. Imagine far away stars, planets, and galaxies; it's limitless. I would also try taking more if I were you. Maybe try to get some Psilocybe Azurescens, ther're MUCH better than cubensis in my opinion. I find that only when you are slain with the mushrooms does the message become clear. Mushrooms give us the power to animate our visual world however we please, so in other words, you will se what you want to see. Hope that helps. Good luck and pleasant tripping!

I have tripped twice on mushrooms, the first time I took about 2 grams and didnt get much off it. I was told to eat them on an empty stomach and that it would intensify the experience, and also to drink orange juice and take vitamin C tablets. So the second trip I took an entire eighth and drank a couple glasses of OJ and took 200mg of vit c. All of this was on an empty stomach. It was the most intense experience of my life so far. Very difficult and challenging, but totally worth it. My QUESTION is: I am buying an ounce of mushrooms for my fiances birthday party nearing the end of this month and I was quoted 320 bucks for an ounce. I have eight people tripping and wanted to get enough for everyone. I paid 15-20 on the first two trips for an eighth, so this seems kind of ridiculous. This guy is trying to sell me 40 bucks an eighth and is not giving me any sort of discount for buying it in bulk. Does that sound like too much mnoney? or am i wrong? WHAT IS THE GENERAL STREET PRICE? I live in So Cali. Thanks guys!

been trippin for 30 yrs and i will be forever..... trippin now on 7 gr .... its takin everything i got to type it
listeninto Psycho Psylocybin all night the only tune i can listen to over and over
it has to be repeated min 3 times in a row but more is better - same as consuming more is better
the best metal shroom tune. never heard it straight yet and don't plan on it
when i do shrooms i want it all that it will give me. i want those doors to open and i jump in quick before they close

I agree try taking them in the morning, its definitely worth getting up early. And for those people (like me) who can find it a bit depressing to watch the sunset its the exact opposite to watch the sun rise!

I'm definitely a day tripper, I like to drink cheap beer and walk around my yard and watch the wind blow the tree branches around.
I always feel more at one with my dog when shrooming, like he is some sort of spiritual guide of mine, he always seems to be down when I'm tripping. {down in a good way, like "on level"}
Good poll, but I only said cubensis shrooms cause I'm not sure if I had any other kind or not.
And I would never stick mushrooms up my ass

Shrooms up the butt...is there good absorption? They're sharp and crunchy enough down the oral route that I don't even want to imagine how they'd feel the other way. Honestly...they don't taste *that* bad! If worst comes to worst, I'll just pulverize them and put them in caplets or chocolate!
Butt-shroomin'...Do people seriously do this? Any first-hand experiences that would make anyone want to do it?

I wanted to respond to a couple of things in this poll including fainting while tripping and mixing shrooms with OJ or smoothies. First off, shrooms smoothies can be delicous, and are a great way to get 'em down. However, and I don;t know if there is scientific proof for this, I had a negative experience when I found my week old shroom smoothie to be delicous, but inaffective. I had mad a blend about 5 days earliear, w/ ~6 grams, drank half, and had a great afternoon. however, five days later, something in the smoothie must've eaten up all the psilocybin/psilocin. Was this a fluke? IDK, but before I find out any more information, I will make sure to only make smoothies right before use.
As far as the occurence of fainting under the influence of mushrooms, I thought I'd share my experience to save anyone from great worry if it were to happen to you or your friend. About two year ago me and two friends took a masive amount of fresh cubensis' with us for a night of camping. We all wanted to try a megadose, we were all experienced trippers, but hadn't yet taken mushrooms to the levels we new they were capable of. Had the mushrooms been dried, they would've amounted to ~27 g. or 9 g. each.
After setting up camp in a beatiful plain on a beautiful summer day, the cool night breeze just rolling in, we ingested our harvest with a little spaghetti sauce. It must've taken me atleast 20 minutes just to eat them, the shear volume of the pile in front of me was daunting. When I was finishing eating, I was already coming up. It was one of the most intense climbs I've ever experienced. Before long, my limbs began to go numb, and my body felty rather 'noodley.' I lied on my back along side my two friends, all of us head to toe, at that point, movement was made to difficult to be desired.
To get to the point, as the experience became more and more intense, one of the friends and I were enveloped in a blissful awareness of our being. our other friend was flowing with his own groove, but soon became distacted by the nagging mosquitoes and other bugs that plagued the field in which we were situated. Before long, he did eventually konck out. His eyes were sometimes open, but completely unresponsive to us. He shifted form moments of silence, to incoherent rants of nonsense. At one time he began to try to walk and fell over on the tent. He was completely disconnected from his external reality. As my friend and I became more concerned, he showed less movement and speech. As we did not know of any allergic reactions or medical conditions, we were concerned for our friend and wanted to make sure he wasn't suffering from anything physically harmful. We did call paramedics, and he eventually came to. Originally I had some regret for calling 911, but at the time I really did not know that these symptoms were common at high doses and only wanted to make sure my friend was OK.
So, if experimenting with very high doses, or sitting for someone who is, don't panic if this happens. Remeber to always know of any medical conditions so something more serious isn't mistaken for the mushroom intoxication.

I'm not sure of the health risks by smoking them, but I tried smoking a gram of some decent mushrooms and it didn't do anything at all, I should have just ate them.

I agree with TheHateCamel. Eating the shrooms about 1.5 hours before before dark. I think its great tripping both during the day and night. Watching the sunset, then tripping into the night. Very deep.

At the risk of sounding stupid here i go, I've been looking at pictures and I've noticed every ones terrariums have some kind of medium on the bottom, some times white some times looks like dirt.
I was just going to put my rice Patty's on a wire mesh to keep them off the floor of my terrarium, and use a ultrasonic humidifier. will this still work?

About 10 yrs ago, a couple of drunken shroomin' friends gave a cat they found some shrooms wrapped in cheese. I think this was totally idiotic seeing as who knows what a cat's threshold limit value is to psilocybin (i.e., amount that could kill or make it sick). Anyways, if I recall it didn't do anything, but that cat is still around today and is the most hyper cat I've ever seen.....
Anyways, don't waste your shrooms or try to hurt your pets.

I don't think that I would ever stick them in my Anus. I perfer eating them with Wendy's that's usually pretty good. It's been so long since I tripped though. I have been at college and during the winter shrooms are not that plentyful, so now that summer is rolling around i can do them on a nice cool summer night.

Hey i'm new here!
Good poll... i love tripping day night, alone with friends, at home outside... you get the picture
i like tripping indoors because i find all the walls and corners and stuff tend to move around a lot.. oh and carpet! i also like to be warm and have music or food if i want... i like tripping outdoors too cause nature and plants especially are cool on mushrooms. Day time rocks cause you have all the colour and light (obviously) and night rocks too cause i find things look more mystical on a nice foggy night.
I like to trip with other people cause i feel like i can really get on their wavelength although on a med-higher dose i can kinda see myself as if I'm someone else following all the social rules and stuff wondering how on earth I'm doing it without me! Tripping with people that dont trip too can be cool, with mushrooms more so than other psychedelics cause i can communicate well with others so i do pretty good in trying to get them to understand some of the stuff you learn while tripping without them actually having to trip. I do end up tripping alone more often though - thats fun too.

This is an amazing poll I do have a friend who prefer to do the anal thing. I wont trip with him when he does it, i mean we'll probably end up splitting a joint and don't want brown goo coming in contact with my lips thats just not right and i tell him every time just because something is possible doesn't make it right. he always tries to justify it but i just turn off my ears at that point because I dont need to hear stories of his anal fascinations. i usually taske about an 1/8 oz at a tme but i normally dose after my peak. I was thinking about other possible quetsions for a poll like this. My friends and I Have many different rituals and beliefs when it comes to dosing mushrooms. Some ppl fast befroe and during the trip, some ppl eat with it and during it. Some ppl wont ingest anything other than mushrooms while tripping not even pot. Some ppl drink alcohol some say it is a strict nono whilest tripping. I myself tend to fast if i know ahead that i'm going to be tripping and only drink orange juice (or other loaded with vitamin c)during the trip,and wont be around cigarette smoke and i belive it to make a difference. I've tripped over 50 times I always smoke pot with it. I dont believe in a tolerence of msuhrooms as least not one taht builds up with having tripped a lot I've tripped more than plenty of times and the amount doesn't seem to make a difference for me I've dosed 1.5 g (my hardest trip ever) to 6 g (a few very nice trips) tripping ahs a lot to do with your head if you can handle it than the doors will open if you cant then well you need more mushrooms and less reality so you can loosen up...

Shrooms are really good during the day and night however during theday i find the experience less visual and the sun peneterates my eyes, it's really damn bright. I have tried azur twice and i got to say anyone wanting a life changing trip should try them. They propeled me into the mushroom realm with no effort what so ever. I like all shrooms though because they all do somehting else. Even shity cubes can do substantial things to the mind and body.

my first trip was at a concert (Keller Williams, Rat dog, and the String Cheese Incident). I ate 3.5 grams, and damn was it fun. dancing in the sunshine while tripping my mind out is still to this day the most fun I've ever had.
I've also tripped at night with some friends...that was equally fun. I ate about 4 grams of some not-cubies (don't know what kind), and sat in my friend bedroom for 9 hours watching the ceiling melt and swirl in rythms... very relaxing and spiritual.

I wasn't sure what mushroom i had i marked cubensis just because its the most common. I wouldn't recommend more then 1/8 for first time just to see how you react to it. Dark dulls down the trip and gets kinda boring but night is ok if there are lights and stuff. For some reason i can't sleep at all after I take shrooms so if i take them at night ill be up until sunrise. Is that normal?

God! I can't believe I read the whole thread!! But it is all god stuff, and the poll is very good indeed.
Which kinds of Mushrooms did you use? -I also chose P.C. because that is most likely what I have had most the time.
Dosage questions - I always thought of 1/2 of an 1/8 (about 1.75 g) to be sort of "standard". I guess it was always a convenient quantity, because two friends could split an 1/8 or whatever. If you wanted to trip harder, you could split 1/4 among two or three. Of course, if you are producing it yourself, these arbitrary street-quantities have no significance to you.
Solo/group thing - In my early days of tripping, which started with LSD in senior year of HS and continued with LSD and 'shrooms into college, it was always a group thing. We were a close-knit group of adventurers and I would personally feel uncomfortable if someone left the room for a long time or something like that. I just felt the need for everyone to be together. I have never dosed completely alone, but I have now had trips where I dosed with a friend but didn't necessarily hang out with that person constantly throughout the trip.
I definitely agree with the critique regarding "Do you close your eyes or like darkness when you trip?" There should be a choice, "Never tried it" and maybe "Indifferent". Believe it or not, I have done mushrooms at least half a dozen times, but I have never experimented with closed-eyes visuals or tried sitting in a completely dark room. During my college years, we had plenty of black lights, lave lamps and stuff like that around, so we would often have no bright light, just colorful glow, but not darkness.
As far as outside/indoors, I need some of both. I could not stand being indoors for an entire trip. That would drive me NUTS! I could understand if you were underage and had a curfew in your town or whatever, but even as a minor, we always wandered around town while tripping. But after a good adventure, coming back to the warm comfortable house and having a glass of tea or hot chocolate or something, maybe putting on slippers and comfortable clothes, is extremely ... well, comfortable. I call it "Home Base".
Day-tripping/Night-tripping – I think that if you are really a nature lover, you have to trip in the day or at least towards sunset sometimes (or at sunrise). To me, there is something very special about the deep colors produced by living and natural things when illuminated by pure sunlight, especially when it is summer and the sun is fairly direct and the spectrum is full. I agree that the sun seems very bright when tripping. But it is worth it to feel the life-energy of DAYTIME when tripping. Tripping at night can be very cool though. It can be literally cool, which is pleasant in the summer or early fall, when you get a little overheated and a breath of cool air refreshes you.
I did the early morning trip on LSD once. I was living in a dorm (Chadbourn in Madison, WI for anyone who knows the area) and a buddy was visiting from another town. We each set a hit of acid, on the aluminum foil it was wrapped in, right next to the alarm clock and set it for 5 or 6 am. It went off and we dropped the hits. I probably had to punch my buddy and yell at him to shove it in his mouth because he is a deep sleeper and probably wouldn’t be conscious enough to remember the plan until thoroughly awoken. But our plan was to not thoroughly awake until the LSD woke us up, so after dropping we fell back asleep with the paper still on tongue. We were accustomed to sleeping until noon at the time, so this was super-freakin early. But it worked great. After about 30 or 40 minutes, we both slowly woke up, and the more we woke up, the more we realized we were fully tripping. We went from sleep to peaking in 10 minutes. Well, maybe not quite peaking, but definitely way beyond the “I don’t now, maybe I feel it” stage.
Now, this day just happened to be one of the coldest of the whole winter. It was probably well below zero (°F) and we wandered down to the community room on our floor. This room had a big window that looked out over the city towards the state capital and we were eleven stories off the ground. Because of the extreme cold, there were plumes of stark white “smoke” rising off of everything, moisture freezing out of the air being ventilated from buildings, boiler systems, etc. We then got all bundled up and walked all over town, but nothing was open yet! We did eventually wander into the capitol building and licked the bronze badger outside of the governor’s office. I think we were pretty much done tripping by early in the afternoon.
Back to the poll…I also agree there should be a couple more choices for ingestion. There are various extractions, honey, blended up in juice (personal fave).

I'd like to take shrooms every morning, just to get me through each day. Too bad it doesn't work that way. In the day, flowers and bees become fascinating life partners, while squirrels have recognizable anxieties and desires. At night, just close your eyes and watch the light show, or focus on almost anything new and be in awe of what you discover there.

I have thought about experimenting with low-dose muchroom usage on a daily basis, similar to the low-dose experiments that were being done with LSD when it was legal. Maybe 0.1 to 0.5 grams per day, possibly even spaced out, like 0.25 grams in the morning and 0.25 in the afternoon or whatever. Now, I am talking ground and homogenized powder (multiple shrooms and even multiple harvests mixed all together for consistancy). If you were to make an extraction that could be stored for a while and encapsulated for daily use, it would just look like a vitamin or something. Of course it would be a "nutritional supplement".

I'm just curious what you would hope to get out of that? I'm not knocking it, except the ground powder would give you the same digestive challenges that eating whole dried fruits can do.
What would the low doses do for someone? Is it to put you more in touch with something, but without affecting your conscious mind in a noticeable way? I wonder, as you build up tolerance, what effect if any you would get long term.
Let us know if you go at it for any length of time.

Well, experiments were done with LSD "back in the day" by scientists and others with the theory that it could positively effect creativity. Also, I think someone else in this thread, or possibly some other thread, mentioned a reduction of OCD tendencies with low-dose mushrooms, which would be helpful for me.

Both seem interesting, and I wonder how different they really are. I mean I think maybe there is something about OCD which inhibits creativity, or something about boosting creativity which reduces OCD.
I haven't read as much about LSD as I want to, partly because I just want to stay away from it. But my impression is that with psylocybin, unlike LSD, if you ingest it daily you soon become unable to feel the effect very clearly for normal dosages. Maybe some aspects of the effect naturally becomes sublimated? In which case it could have some effect on creativity still, I would think.
Anyway, I would be careful, obviously, but I do think it could be worth trying, if you are really commited to it and have the stock on hand. It may not be for most people, but could work for some.

Well, I think any hallucinogenic blows away patterned behavior and allows one to have more of an appreciation for free will. They usually enhance the awareness of the now; the sense that the present moment is a continuously reborn experience and that anything could happen or be made to happen at any time.
In my own case, I usually become much more aware that I alone limit myself more than the outside world does, because I am ruled by patterned behavior and patterned thinking. And I wouldn't necessarily say I have extreme OCD type behaviors, I don't need to turn around five times before entering a room or anything like that, but I do waste a lot of my life worrying about things that don't matter and doing things that don't really need to be done, and hallucinogenics have truly made me aware of this. Now, I haven't tripped in a pretty long time, so I have probably lost a lot of perspective on where I am at. I hope to soon get that perspective back.

Shrooms definitely give a euphoric boost, and make you feel like you finally can get past a lot of things you thought you never could. And unlike pot, it's usually more realistic inspiration that you can actually do something with. That's a big "in my humble opinion", and I probably don't know what I'm talking about anyay.
The important thing is to keep at it once you realize what it is you were meant to do, and to commit to it, whatever it is. I think that has to be the only way to paradise, figuratively speaking. Unless of course you have a super-model slumber party going on at your place. Then please let us all know. I can get on a plane real fast.
