heres my contruction of my tub...I went a lil different with my plans after buying the bins..basically I cut out most of the both lids and am now gluing them together...not only does it secure it but it adds a lil drip shield inside
glue is drying
used some polyfil to fill the handle holes
and a shot of the top so you can see how its completely open inside
btw I'm either gonna add cawk or more glue will be put around the edge after the first has dried and the glue is non toxic btw

I'd go with larger holes. I made 6 3" holes for my 40gal tote bin with a hole saw. Its cut down to 1' high because I couldnt have a bin that big in my room. So i cut it down and keep it under my bed out of the way and out of sight so i can easily neglect it a bit. I should be spawning it on friday with 80/20 straw/manure. I hope to only check and case/patch about 5-6 times from spawing to harvest.
Alos I have a low population of fungus gnats im wiping out in my cactus grow. So im really trying to minimize chance of eggs laid in the casing. So low maintence is almost a nessecity with my grow.

So I don't get it. Why would you glue the chamber shut? EatUAlive said he just rested the tub on top and that way you can open to case, inspect if necessary, and harvest.

i think what he's doing is using the two lids glued together as a means of keeping the tubs together. he's not gluing the tubs together.
good idea btw walrus

I really think they will get all the fresh air they need bro...especially considering the amount of space they will have in there...but if I'm wrong I can always make em bigger later

walrus, the size of the tub dosent mean much when the vents are small. They might be good at only 1" though, were all experimenting here. When will you be spawining? I just started the spawn run last night, cranked my room temp to 80.

Another Idea to seal the two tubs would be to get some thin width weather stripping that would sit nicely on the rim of the top tub. Glue it down to the rim of the top tub, drill 4 sets up holes in each corner of the rims of the bottum and top tubs. Use a plastic nuts and bolts to clamp the tubs together with the weather stripping being squezzed and creating an air tight seal. Even tightening some zip-ties instead of the nuts and bolts would probably work.
Easily reusable with no mess.

At this moment another bin is put on top (upside down) to create sort of a 'mini-greenhouse'. Note the mesh covered holes in the top bin.

Would you suggest using a double tub just for a regular 50/50 verm/coir casing without spawning or any of that other stuff? if so, could i just make a casing and just use the double tub as my terrarium, or do i need to make the casing in the bottom bin??
