His so-called invention is based on other peoples copy written patents. Any lawsuit he pursues will not hold up in a court of law.

This is one awesome thread. I've read it start to finish.
Great ideas. Magash = God. Can't wait to start building...I'll post a log when I do!

How much does a gallon of that geolite weigh? I'm going to order some and am trying to figure out how much I need. Thanks for the help.

BuferOverflow: The stuff isnt light, try to find it locally before ordering online. Try any local headshops. I see you are in Texas, try Planet K, or a similar shop. Or look through the yellow pages and call hydroponic shops. Ask for expanded clay pebbles, or hydroton, I havent found it called geolite locally. -dr0

a few questions on the PMP. I searched and read this thread and still couldn't find exactly what I need...
is it necessary to put a Tyvek or polyfil filter on the holes in the top used for air exchange?
what do you use to seal the hole made for the plastic tubes?
is it 10:1 H20:H202? or the other way around for the water used in the PMP.

1) I dont think the PMP uses holes, so you wont need to cover them :P the reason for holes is gas exchange, which the pump takes care of
2) Just make the holes big enough for the tubes. if it's not, I guess you could seal it with hot glue or something. Maybe even superglue
3) I think too much h202 would kill everything :P so 10:1, water/acid

I am pretty sure the PMP does use holes on its lid or near the top. They are there to let excess c02 out to be replaced by o2, I think?
I was thinking some sort of water proof tape for the tube holes?

You know what? You are correct.
Mag has 2 tiny holes at the top of it.
I just went to find a post to prove you wrong, and I discovered I was the one who was incorrect
I'd think he'd use some sort of breathable covering. Though I don't think it makes too much of a difference.
As far as letting air pass and keeping humidity in, I read without the top off you can maintain 80% humidity, which rules ass
as far as contams...I'd say leave it covered, but that's based off logic and not experience...and my logic can be greatly flawed

heh I think leaving it covered is a good idea. I was just wondering if adding a tyvek filter to the small holes at the top is needed.

You guys have nailed it. Here is why the holes are at the top.
(sorry I know this boaring stuff)
The fundamental principal behind using air entrainment is to sufficiently mix the two (fresh air and stale air) together and then re-distribute them back into the environment in a more balanced way that is then more beneficial to the mushroom crop. Without this sufficient mixing of the gasses present within the grow space, the crops will remain stunted and will likely never reach their optimum potential. With the poor mans pod, the settling co2 air is met and diffused by a curtain of fresh air rising from beneath the Geo-lite surface. This rising flow of air is created from the air diffuser rod situated below the Geo-lite surface, which is powered by the air pump. The rising air pattern not only prohibits the heavier co2 air from settling down onto the bottom surface as usual but it also simultaneously diffuses the co2 with fresh air as it is distributed back into the environment or grow space where it can be put to good use. In this way, the poor mans pod creates the same desired phenomenon as offered by more conventional means of air entrainment found in much larger-scale commercial applications where a mixing box is commonly used to accomplish this important task.

Alright, I bought some lava rock.
How small do the parts have to be? and do I have to wash them? If so, should I use bleach?
I wanna do this right :P
