LEBANON -- A southern Ohio man's 28th birthday celebration became his last when he died early Friday morning in a Lebanon motel parking lot.
Local police responded to a call about 8:35 a.m. Friday, from Lee's Inn, 1242 W. Ind. 32, where a trio of travelers found Dennis D. Brown, 28, of Hamilton, Ohio, dead in their parked blue Buick LeSabre. Brown's birthday was Thursday.
The Lebanon Police Department and Boone County Coroner Richard Dowden are investigating the death. Dowden said preliminary results of an autopsy performed Friday afternoon revealed no evidence of trauma or injury to Brown. Officials will await results of toxicology tests before determining a cause of death.
LPD Patrolman Rich Mount said the three travelers, car owner John Sedam, 26, of Warrenton, Va.; Eric Miller, 27, of Thomaston, Conn.; and Michael G. Blakeslee, 28, of Waterbury, Conn., told him they had given Brown a ride from a Thursday night concert at Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville.
The men were all fans of Phish, a band whose following in recent years is often compared to the traveling fans that followed Grateful Dead tours throughout recent decades. They told Mount they met Brown at the Thursday night concert, and he asked them for a ride to the next Phish concerts tonight and Saturday night at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Elkhorn, Wis.
Somewhere between Noblesville and Lebanon, Brown fell asleep during the drive, the three witnesses said. They said they decided to stop at Lee's Inn for the night, and tried to wake Brown, but he did not respond. Because Brown was snoring loudly, the group had no concerns about his health, Sedam told Mount.
The men checked in to the motel at 1:46 a.m. Friday and left a note that read "Room 108" in Sedam's LeSabre, so Brown would know where to find them, Mount said. In the morning, the three woke and found Brown dead in the car at about 8:30 a.m.
Lt. Brent Wheat, LPD public information officer, said Brown's autopsy was performed at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis. Wheat said there were "no outward signs of a struggle," and though car windows were rolled up, lack of oxygen is not believed to be a contributing factor to the death.
Wheat said police are investigating the possibility the death was drug- or alcohol-related.
"That is one of the questions we are trying to answer," he said.
Toxicology results could take up to several weeks.

Man, people need to stop dying. Unless your shooting up, there is really no excuse for ODing except pure stupidity. It pisses me off, makes us all look stupid when these people make the news.

So you know how he died? Don't jump to conclusions, you sound like a real selfish prick saying what you did. All you fuckers are suspect in my book. I've seen the nicest acting heads rip people off, you obviously don't have a clue how nasty your utopian dream of a scene is if you think this is any kind of news in the lame planet that is the jam band world. The majority of people surrounding it are moronic, ignorant, selfish fools. Realize this quickly. It's why it's a shit hole out there.

It's pretty hard to kill yourself with most drugs, unless you do some really crazy combos or crazy amounts. It's just so easy to take drugs and not die, it pisses me off when people kill themselves. I guess your right though, it's possible he didn't even die from anything drug related.

Pretty much the reason people die from drugs is because they do something irresponsible like drive poorly, or just don't plain know what they're doing. Like if their substance, say heroin, is much more pure than they're used to.
Sad.

Look at the dirt bags out there selling random chemicals as LSD and E. I mean some people hear those things are at shows and don't know any better and buy that crap. It's suprising more people aren't dropping like flys. There has been more deaths out there this summer than years. It's pretty sad.
