I think the stable shavings you find mushrooms in are usually the big pile of what they shovel out of the barn.

I actually found some mushrooms growing in a field of mine today that is well covered with horse manure and it appears as though the mushrooms are coming right out of it.
i'm not exactly sure if they are cubensis or what but i'll try to post some pictures up tomorow morning.

i keep finding these mushrooms growing out of horse manure on my property... mostly found in low grassy areas on older looking manure too.

Me and a friend found a few cubensis growing from old piles of donkey manure in a field last year...

Hmm, I really need to study more about this topic, my family owns a ranch with both Black Angus and Horses. I do remember seeing mushrooms growing in or very close to manure patches in the field but no idea what they were. Maybe I should stop in and scour the pastures, barn and stables. Hell maybe I should even load up my truck with all of the manure and sell it, I know all too well there is a never ending supply. I was always nominated to clean it up when I was a teenager.

Habitat- found growing in low grassy area's in horse manure in Oregon, US.
Characteristics of the gills- gray coloration
Characteristics of the stem- various length of stem rangine from 1/4'' to 1 1/2'', fairly thin, thick and slimy when picked, hollow after dried
Characteristics of the cap- anywhere from 1/4'' to 3/4'' max diameter, yellow golden color very slimy at picking
Spore print color- black to dark dark brown
Color that the mushroom bruises- bruises turn more golden but not a great difference
Scent of the mushroom- almost odorless, faint dirt scent

anyway, you need to make your own treads for identificatio requests.
your mushrooms are problably Stropharia semiglobata. to be honest i'm a little supprised this mushroom isn't more often mistaken by new hunters.
