Hey Everyone, So I joined a few weeks ago and have no officially started my first PF Tek and SGFC grow at 2am last Sunday.
I have 4 syringes of spores and decided to start with Escondido. Also have B+, Nepal Chitwan and Pink Buffalo (Gonna do a small grain tray with this soon).
So I am pretty much following all the appropriate tek to and T and being kind of anal with use alcohol to sanitize. The room I am doing everything is, I also mist the entire room with a 10% bleach and water solution.
Seems to be going well, here are the pictures of some stuff.
SAB
SGFC
5 days in my Jars! Growing faster than I thought.
I just wanted to share! Thanks Everyone.

So quick question can anyone tell me what i should be using distilled water for, I remember reading about it but I cant quite remember where.
Also I know i could put a splash of Peroxide.
Also I am using a 10% Bleach Solution as well + Alcohol.
I have been hearing about soap water what ratio and kind of soap?

We really don't use distilled water for anything. Tap water will work fine for just about anything you need.
Skip h202, that's more for helping fight bacterial contamination.
10% bleach and water mix is great. I would save your alcohol for other uses, like cleaning your jars once inside your SAB.
Water + soap is the absolute best spray solution for trapping contaminants in a SAB. Any soap will do, just a couple of drops to a spray bottle and you're all set. I use dawn and warm water.

Distilled water is good for making spore syringes but that's about it.

Good to see you getting into agar! When you run out of plates, and it will happen sooner than you think, check out doing your own no pours http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19208976/fpart/1/vc/1 Very easy and may save you a few bucks.
Good to have shelves and stay organized, this hobby can take up a lot of space. Looking good man, but I would remove the foil on top of those jars the dry verm layer is all the protection you need. The aluminum foil can trap moisture, screwing up your dry verm filter. No tape over the holes either, just the four open holes. Just be sure not to disturb the dry verm layer by picking up, moving and tilting the jars.
I know it's hard to do but the best thing is to just sit them on the shelf and forget about them for a week or so, start something else while you wait. Also colonization in the dark is old info, sitting on a shelf at room temp is fine, normal indirect light is good. Good luck!

Yeah I bought 4 prepoured ones when first started and then realized i will need a lot and got 30 empty agar dishes I need to fill. Thanks for the link.
And the tin foil isnt their that was just after sterilizing them before inoculation. I take the foil off in my SAB.
okay thats good to know, but their colonizing crazy

Nice man. Yes, upload your pics HERE.
Be careful with the size of holes in your grain jar lids. Too big and they tend to dry out.

Thanks for the picture link, wasnt sure how that worked.
And in terms of the hole size I used a 3/4 hole punch and have a synthetic filter disc above it. Those are just extra lids lid disks I have. I read a few places about the hole size and 3/4 seemed fine to use.

I use 1/4 I think... 3/4 is big but try it and see what happens. I haven't made lids in awhile haha. If the grains dry out then you know to use a smaller size.
