Habitat: They were in tall grass near my pond, I almost walked right by without seeing them.
Gills: grey/black
Stem: thick and white
Cap: White, a little golden on top
Spore print color: as usual, im working on it, but not finished yet...
Bruising: I didnt see any...
Other information: nah, I think thats it...
(additional question:) If I live on the border between Tennessee and Kentucky, should I keep a look for shrooms native to both states?

I'm not sure, the cap on mine looks less red than golden-ish. The gills are also darker, but almost seem to be two different shades of grey-ish black.
If it is that, what color should the spore print be?

I suggested Hypholoma fasciculare before reading the actual description and deleting it when he said the stem was thick and growing in grass and thinking i was way off lol. The cap colour (yellow in the middle fading to lighter yellow) and dark gills with lighter parts are what made me think Hypholoma.

The stem was think, but kinda weak at the same time, and almost hollow... if that helps. (The shroom looks a little more like Hypholoma fasciculare that Hypholoma sublateritium, but I am by no means an expert, so I could be VERY wrong...)

As for your border question. I too live on a border. But the only shrooms I've found here are common more to climate and terrain, rather than state.
Concerning psilocybes and other psychoactive species the list here on the forum seems to be pretty good about adding a species when there is a good observation of one growing where it was previously unknown to. But, with that being said. Physics are physics and there are countless ways a spore can travel.

Although, I found an article showing Psilocybe semilanceata north of Boise. Which does not appear on the shroomery list.

Cool. I forgot about uploading the spore print, ill end up doing it some time today. I'm waiting for a good sunny day to check these cow patties right behind my backyard, hopefully my landlord doesn't feed them that shit that stops shrooms from growing... though I saw some brown looking ones just starting to grow in the wooded area I wanted to check out in a couple of days too.
