We've had the same type of weather in Southern Ontario. Hopefully we actually get the rain they've been calling for this time, this heatwave has been unbearable!

Asking if your finds were up on a hill or in a gully is "gross violation of forums rules"? Sounds like a question regarding habitat to me.
We finally got some heavy rain last night and this morning. I'll likely head out later this afternoon and tomorrow morning in hopes of finding something. I've been able to locate plenty of Beech habitat while waiting for the rains.

Very different.
This is what bluefoot habitat lookslike in early summer:
personally i like a stream with a lower wash out, think very shallow like this in late summer:
This is Ovoid habitat in early spring:

***Edit I think this post is wrong, and these are not caerulipes!! I scoped them after maynards post and the spore shape was wrong. Jumped the gun! I'll follow up later, and leave my error there for now......Sorry guys! These were really tiny, dry, coming out of beech litter, and had blue!****
Dry-rulipes from Lake Huron - all from leaf litter
ALSO: been finding these guys on sugar maple and paper birch.....

Are you sure those are Caerulipes? They look an awful lot like a Deconica species. Either way excellent pictures! I love the B'luteus.

I can see the blue in the images and in person. They were too dry to bruise intensely. I'll scope them for you and compare to last years Atlantic finds.
It's all about the beechamins baby.

They're just really not giving off that caerulipes look..
Roger, have you found these before?

I edited my post above, and I will do an ID request or an MO upload tomorrow with micro's on the mystery mushrooms. I did find a few caerulipes last year, these were much smaller and drier than those ones but had many similar features and habitat, also quite far away from the original find (1000+ km), however microscopy shows these ones are something different altogether as you both have suggested.

They remind me of Deconica inquilina but that is obviously just a guess
