Well it's not exactly the most mature choice of words, I'll be the first to admit. But honestly, it's probably the most optimal word to describe certain people. Male or female. I know way too many people (for starters people in my own family for fuck's sake, and people I grew up with, etc.), as I'm sure we all do, that try to be someone other than themselves, for what reason -- fuck if I know -- pressure from society? Pressure from their peers or clique they hang out with? Whatever. It drives me insane when I see a person blatantly trying to be someone other than who they really are.
There's too many transparently fake people in this world. If someone is just who they are, 100%, to me that's alpha right there.
A person that is so insecure that they try to convince themselves and people around them that they're someone who they're not -- that's a fucking beta.
Be yourself. That's all I'm saying.
