Yeah, I guess if you're using a .22, but with hunting rifles there is no way a bow is deadlier.

You would have to be an expert, close to professional bowman in order to hunt wild game with a bow and arrow. Considering you have to aim for the heart hundreds of feet away...

I agree.  All an arrow does it go through the animal.  Many times the animal doesn't even know it's been hit.  It just leaves a hole through the animal from which they bleed out

A high powered hunting rifle such as let's just say a 300 ultra mag.  It also leaves a hole but that isn't the only damage it does.  When it hits the animal it's like a freight train hitting it.  You can shoot a deer in the the center of it's neck with a bow and it'll run off, with a rifle it'll fall where it stands.  The deer is being killed by the shock of the bullet hitting it.

Hunters like bows because of the skill level required.  It's in no way even close to as deadly as a high powered rifle.  This isn't even up for argument.

deer have dropped from a single shot with a bow and they've run from a shot from hunting rifles

it's about shot placement

That is true.  Apparently this yutz didn't have good shot placement.  The lion also was a good bit larger than a deer.  That fucking guide should have had a rifle shouldered for back up before the dentist even shot.  There is nobody who isn't an asshole here.

Agreed shot placement is key. I've hunted deer with bows and rifles, and if you don't hit a vital spot with a rifle, then the deer will run off. A bullet won't stop a deer in its tracks. The reason why guns are so popular with hunting is because they are easy. Anyone can fire a gun decently accurate, but to shoot a bow good you need tons of practice. While guns do have a much better range, a bow is very deadly.

Unless you hit the vitals, an animal will run off either way. Ime an arrow will cause it to bleed out faster. Unless you know how to track well(and didn't just wing the animal) you can get it in a few hours at most.

A bow is deadly in the right hands, a gun can be deadly in any hands.

Also, i noticed something about the story. Using a crossbow is pretty common when poachers hunt, because of its quietness and Deadliness. That could have been the reason he used such a weapon.

I've shot deer that have fallen, and I've shot deer that have ran. I don't hunt in stands though, i prefer to track them down. So i don't always have the best shot.

I was sitting on my butt on the ground.  Nailed the spine.  Waited to see if he would bolt and when he raised his head put another round in his neck.  No 40 hour torture for that guy.

I have no problem with hunting in general but what went on here is totally against my hunting ethos.

I also have no problem with ethical hunting, especially if it's for food. I ate a lot of deer meat this winter. It is delicious and I prefer it to the factory farmed stuff you buy at the grocery store.

This was a sociopathic slaughter. I highly doubt the dentist was innocent of the nature of the hunt either.

When he comes out of hiding he'll be fully lawyered and PR'd up, I'm sure.
