Help, are these Chanterelles? and other curiosities
    #22023575 - 07/31/15 09:03 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Hi there!

I spotted what I hoped were patches of Chanterelles the other day and I went back this morning to pick some.  Could someone please ID these cause I'm really hoping that they are a mushrooms patch of Chanterelles!

Here's some pics with info to follow:

Habitat:
New Brunswick, along logging roads, amongst coniferous and deciduous trees, moss and dead leaves.

Gills:
are they gills? are they ridges?  please help with this I'm learning.
yellow

Stem:
yellow, thick solid,

bulb:  slightly bulbous and roundish growing attached in clusters and also alone but mostly in groups

Cap:
yellow, concave, various sizes

Spore print color:
didnt take yet.

Bruising:
no changes to colour

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom is mushroomy, tasted a little piece of cap and its mushroomy.
I found this mushroom growing about 5 feet away, but not mixed in the patch within the mushrooms I 've picked.

I would much appreciate an ID while hoping I can eat these !  It is my first season of mushroom hunting as I am new to mycology.  I ve always thought mushrooms were cool.  I'd like to learn what I can forgage in the forest. I've decided to try growing the little buggers too.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the road  I found this:

habitat same as above (along the logging roadside of New Brunswick)
cap:  flat, round and large.  brown and gooey, convex
no gills but pores that are green.
spore print:  yellow deposit beneath while drying on paper towel
stem:  thick, full off white
bulb:  not round, same as stem .tapers off
bruising:  none observed

I've read that none are deadly but some poisonous.
I'm guessing this is a bolete.

and

Last but not least, these were found in a cow pasture near some poo.  I was curious to see if these had any magical powers.  My friend said that they didnt look like any of the kind he's had and that those weren't in season yet.  Anyone wanna see if they can ID these?
Thanks!

spore:  black
stem: bruised red?? thin but very strong and strong like a twig.  the cap remained intact (didnt  melt) browish, no bruising noted
gills:  free fan like

Before I go, I want to say thank you and that I appreciate you reading this post and helping me out.

PS: I think I found my fist 'lobster' mushroom.  If I went back to where it was, would it be possible that there could be more?  I didn't have time to investigate the area when I originally spotted it.

Thanks!

Picklette

The first 11 pictures are Cantharellus cibarius a.k.a golden chanterelles - Nice!

The next mushroom is a Bolete.

Last one looks like Panaeolus sp.
