The dentist shot him with a crossbow....most likely with a scope on it. They are lethal up to 70-80 yards. Not a regular bow (recurve or compound. He HAD to see the collar, especially if he had a scope. You're looking for a kill shot basically the size of your fist...if you can see that, you can surely see a brightly colored tracking collar!
The dude is a narcissistic trophy killer who somehow gets his rocks off by what is hanging on his wall....not the quality of the hunt.
Fuck him.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I've seen hunters do some amazing things. A lot of them have incredible eyesight and their sense of navigation and general intuition is through the roof.
But you know these sport hunters who shell out tens of thousands of dollars to hunt exotic game in Africa aren't exactly paying for a legitimate hunt. Especially lion-hunting. In fact, IDK if you've ever read about lion-hunting in Africa, but hunting lions (the legal way) often takes place on a farm, and requires practically no skill as a hunter.
The lions are raised from birth as cubs, and they are so used to being around humans, that they will gather by the dozens all around you. You don't even have to track it down to shoot it or anything. They will actually walk within several feet of you and just hang out, and you are expected to get your rifle and shoot them.
Just doesn't even seem like you're hunting, like isn't the whole purpose and thrill of hunting to HUNT down and track an animal?? Seems like all you're doing is paying big money to kill an endangered animal.

Yeah, I guess if you're using a .22, but with hunting rifles there is no way a bow is deadlier.
You would have to be an expert, close to professional bowman in order to hunt wild game with a bow and arrow. Considering you have to aim for the heart hundreds of feet away...
you clearly dont know shit

hahaha... once more, you know nothing about hunting. yes, hippos can kill you but they arent even close tot he most dangerous in africa, much less the world. cape buffalo are the most dangerous of the big 5 for game hunters
Uhhhh, hippos are actually the number 1 killer of humans in Africa

hunting and tracking a lion that's lived in the wild for that long is still better then eating at mcdonalds or burger king for a year straight

Ned the lion. Ned is an anti-social, boring square who ignored park visitors regularly. Ned also may or may not have groped an underage female lioness as well.
Ned should've got the bullet IMO.

not even close.
still, that doesnt make them the most dangerous, if we do base it on that then the Mosquito is the most dangerous animal in africa, or man. both have killed far more than the hippos have. cape buffalo are known to break from a run and pursue you, they're higly protective of the herd, especially the young and they'll come after you if they catch wind of you

in the first few hundred images I dont see the collar on him in any of the pictures, do they only put the collar on him when he's being hunted? do you think maybe the mane covers the collar and it wasnt visible under all that shaggy hair?

That's a good point pris...I didn't think of that ...maybe it was covered by the mane. But the fact is...They tied a dead animal to a truck to lure the lion out of the park..(baiting lions is deemed unethical and illegal in Zimbabwe) Also they hunted at night. Basically hiding and shooting a tame animal with a high powered crossbow in a spotlight. It then took over 40 hrs. to track and dispatch the animal with a gun.
Any way you put it, this is not a sporting hunt. I was brought up hunting in an ethical and responsible way...always eating what I kill. This man just wanted a head...unfortunately, the Minneapolis Zoo wouldn't let him shoot a lion through the cage, so he had to fly to Zimbabwe. I despise people like this....Again, I repeat....Fuck him.
