It goes to show he should have been more open on the real details so that someone with some engineering skill or chemical knowledge could at least help with the problems that seem to be arising from his methods.

I have contacted the author of the paper that successfully grew Morchella rufobrunnea and asked her for more information, and also whether she would share a spore print or culture. Will update you guys with her response.

Hi, I did get some good looking sclerotium (see attached pic). I was wondering what I should try as an experiment for getting it to fruit later on. I could try the ower method but apparently it should not go anywhere else than nowhere. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks Sylvain

I've currently got 4 grain jars of morel mycelium. I've also got a load of untreated mulch that I'm about to spread around my garden. I plan on mixing the two together to see if I can get some morels growing in the next few years. Anyone had any success with this technique or any thoughts on the likeliness of success?

I'm going to just make huge gallon batches of GWLC inoculated with a wedge of culture. There will be stir bars in my jars. Once they are all colonized I will then dump them around my property, after giving them a good spin. This should work similarly to what that guy did, right?

Yeah I think so. Here's some pics of my mycelium growing on the mulch I mentioned earlier. Put the grain spawn in there 2 days ago and it's already got a ton of growth.

You're using popcorn as the nutrient source? Not good. I would use GREEN (hickory nuts, pecans, walnuts, beech nuts, pine nuts) but irregardless GREEN nuts fresh from the woods. This is their natural nutrient source which includes the green flesh of the fruit of the nut, the nut hull and the actual nut. Nuts contain an "appetite suppressant" which causes the mycelia to go into a state of storing nutrients instead of utilizing nutrients to form more vegetative mycelia. Corn, maize, popcorn, cracked corn hardly has these "other" nutrients or anti-nutrients.

Not popcorn. It's wild bird seed and it seems to be loving it. I'm not trying to force it into a vegatative state. Just want it to do it's natural thing in my garden. This seems to be working well and a similar approach to the video I posted above.

I'm asking because I am interested in the cultivation of morels. In fact, I'm doing a university project on them.
Oh, and I am family friends with the owner of the company that bought Gary Mills' company

Can you use gypsum instead of pavement gravel and do they just fruit directly out of the jar, or do you have to spawn them? I found these but they should be great to clone from.
