What is your favorite arcade game?
I find it hard to find places that still have them since most arcades have been shut down in the past 10-15 years years, sometimes I still find some in laundromats or other places though.

Street Fighter II and related various editions that came after. Mortal Kombat 1, 2, 3. There were actually a ton of misc arcade games I played back in the day, but like OP said they are all gone now pretty much. We have one exception, a place called Game Works. Has a bar upstairs and tons of arcade games and a custom game or two built specifically for them, The main one has like a 3 story screen and 4 chair/harnesses that move you up "level by level" as you play, until you get to the top, then you "freeefall" down.
All the games I see in arcade places or the arcade/bar spinoffs seem to be the fake shooter games now. Like you get the cheesy gun and shoot the screen, or its the racing games. It seems no one puts good normal arcade games like fighting games or platformers.

Bubble bobble is yet another classic I used to love to play!
It was actually another game you could play on the same machine as metal slug in the pizza shop I mentioned, totally forgot about that. Wish I could remember some of the other games they had on that machine.

Taito lost the source code for it. They're idiots. I actually saw an original Bubble Bobble cabinet going for $300 or so on Ebay years and years ago. Should have bought it, cause I bet they're at least 500% of that price now.

Oh I almost forgot I played the shit out of NBA JAM arcade way back in the day. It was next to the mortal kombat1 or 2 or 3, cant remember which, at the local 7-11 we hung out at as teenager hellions

Time Crisis II was my shit. Shoot 'em outs are always fun for me.
Luckily there's a place called Pinballz where I live and they have tons of old school arcade games. They even have a Zoltar Fortune Teller machine! Kind of far from where I live though 
I also liked playing beat 'em up
