Hey there Gnomes. Yes, the season has started but it is still very dry.
Found my first dead porcini on 28/03/2015. I was surprised it had popped so early.
And another patch of quite a few dead ones on friday also.
Some others.

So keen on this season! Might go for a little look tomorrow see what fungus is poking around if any after the recent cold spell. Will post pics asap if I find anything pretty.

What area are the porcini found in I've been looking for those fuckers for 2 years now.
The rain we have just had is going to get things going.

Went for a quick hunt this morning. Only a couple of inactives but it's still quite early in the year so i wasn't expecting any subs.
First signs of mushroom life i found.
Some more Gyms.
This is the habitat I've been searching in, seems to have had no disturbance at all from humans. Good luck to everyone else out looking for subs

Tasty finds Gnomes! congratz!
Went up to where I found my first patches last year which yielded decent hauls was a little touched by the recent fires. No fungus from what I could see, wasn't looking to hard just remember where heaps of various types of mushrooms patches were growing there other then Subs. Here is some shots nothing amazing but do you think these patches are now ruined?

Nice cultivation work, Gnomes. Super early.
It'll be great when the SA wild psilocybe season starts and subs are found naturally growing. Can't wait for that.
It's heaps dry out there still. I went on a massive 7 hour hunt yesterday at many of my known spots. Even ones that went very early last year still have nothing. And no new boletus edulis yet either.
No lactarius, no suillus, no amanita, no tricholoma, no macrolepoita. Basically, bugger all is out yet.
A few patches of massive gymnopilus junonius, Tapinella panuoides and a couple of varieties of mycena was about all there was. Oh, and a cool bird with a red belly. And a geocache. That was it.

I am also curious about what fire does for the ecology. Will recently burnt areas still produce ? anyone had any experience with this im sure someone has.

The few spots I've been to recently that were affected by the fire are still so black with a bit of green coming back through, doesn't look they're going to produce this season but we haven't seen much rain yet and I'm no where near an expert.

fire is natures greatest alie when it comes to revegetation as it clears areas for new growth, lots of natives need fire to germinate seeds that will lie dormant until such a time is reached. recently burnt out areas will not flourish for atleast a few years
