Anybody tried this with a clear wine bottle or something similar? Might try it for shits and giggles but I doubt it'd work without modification (at least to harvest it).

thats why I asked. I just dont get the reasoning behind it, like I should start recommending car mechanics judged by the way they greet me in the door

I'm starting to know you for your bad similes. He's done the tek enough to know how stripped-down and simple the tek is. He's done it from prep to pins, just not flushed out.

so how does he know he'll be happy with the results?
I think you'd agree if it just didnt happen to be in "your tek"

I wont be "happy with the results" i'm gonna get an 1/8 off this probably..lol I grow monos... I think violet summed it up above I have a few of these V-TEK containers all pinning no problems whatsoever I think that grants me the right to recommend this tek to noobs anyways in reality its pf-tek in a plastic container and I wasted a whole year on pf-tek a decade ago. the thing that makes me agree with violet on the noob thing is the pp5's they truly are set and forget...

well, tell me how's that working out for you when it comes time to harvest. see if they're suffering from low fae or not (V. disclaimer: IN YOUR OPINION SINCE OPINIONS WILL ALWAYS BE DIFFERENT).
pp plastic doesnt make fresh air any less important for the growth of mushrooms

I totally agree with you on that point I realize that in no way are these going to give perfect conditions but in reality 99% of noobs don't get the right conditions in their FC of choice. I truly think that these are easier to succeed with limited knowledge of the mycology game IMO its still a great place to start it will get almost anybody fruits and then they can apply their knowledge and step their game up

I harvested 1 of my pp5's yesterday all in all very easy no problems throughout the process I have a few more going to get some invitro prints I didn't weigh my dry ingredients so I cant calculate BE one of these got so tall it pushed the lid up almost an inch I thought the feet would be fuzzier on these I mean they were fuzzy but I thought it was gonna be super fuzzy so I guess that shows that these do get some FAE just from unscrewing the lid

That'll break the container - if not when installing it, it will require more care to avoid breaking in the future. His point is that they do get fae. They don't need any more in order to have full performance.
Tether, off to a great start with the tek!

i had read that fuzzy feet meant the FC needed more FAE.I don't see how drilling a small hole(3/16"-3/8") is going to break the plastic but i must admit i haven't tried it on a small jar. works ok on tubs.

Though I don't think it's necessary and would probably just end up being annoying, if you're going to modify PP5 containers, do it with soldering iron you don't care about. Way easier than drilling or cutting and guaranteed to get it done. Sometimes it leaves some crap on the soldering iron though.
Invitro fruits (IME) are not particularly pretty. Maybe I just haven't dialed in my lids yet. Yields have been around or above average for PF tek. Will post results when they're spent.
Anyway, I'd rather recommend people get a few ugly fruits than waste their time screwing with half pint mason jars and SGFC's, all of which become useless when you change to grains.
-------------------- I spawned some popcorn casings and had double-overlay cause I didn't put enough hydrogen peroxide in my automated aquarium mister. I only got one mushroom so I cut off the head part where the seeds fall from and put it in a jar of LC and sprayed it all over a tin of PF cakes I made with gravel, cardboard, and bisquick in my microwave. I think it will be good cause B+ is so potent. Triggered yet? Only a square would say "a cube is a cube." No, this does not look right...

my last invitro fruits weren't too bad they were pretty normal looking and your right about a SGFC being useless although I do still use my 1/2 pint jars for 9er tek clones to slurry out to grains I actually have a bunch right now that pinned invitro which is new to me I usually don't leave them for that long lol ill throw up some pics later as I find it interesting how they find the space to grow and just pack themselves in there

Shit I fucked up by putting a dry verm barrier on my BRF. Will the MS be able to reach the sub through about a half inch of dry verm? Or should I re-inoculate in a SAB by plunging the needle through the barrier?
