Looking to make a game

Heya everyone. I've been a game designer for a couple years now (mostly for small indie games with bad managers) and have been looking into making my own game. I can't really code, and my specialties are limited to competitive theory, balance, mapping, moveset design etc. Pretty much anything to do with competitive gaming.

But as I can't code, or yet anyways, I decided that I want to make a Visual Novel (oh goody, another indie VN). But this one will focus on the usage of psychedelics from the eyes of a young man entering adulthood and eventually hitting his mid-life crisis (or further). Seeing things happen to his buddies through legal drugs or bad dealers and all that while lightly touching on the topic of the war on drugs. While trying not to seem too preachy either.

And so I was wondering. What are your opinions on this? Any ideas you'd want to see implemented or things I should know about? I'm pretty new to this whole topic myself but it's got such a hold on my attention I love learning new things about it. Keep in mind it's a Visual Novel, so it's limited to text and pictures. More to convey a story than any gameplay stuff.

hey bro, i make games using unity3d, you should start using it, its really easy, im really only a hobbyist but the communities massive, i am working on a small mobile game with an experienced programmer which is really helping me shorten the learning curve but all in all its suprisingly easy(i guess like most things in life[when you make a decision to learn regardless])

id love to help when you get stuck, but for now start with some tutorials on the unity website.

can i also ask, do you have any sketches of your design? do you also make art or anything else?

And I'm using Ren'Py right now. My bigger ideas will need to be made in Unity or UE4, and I have both however. But I have no idea how to use them. I recently got a set of tutorials for Unity but am very beginner.

I'm not very good at art. I was working on a few games a while back as a character balancer, moveset designer, and gameplay technician (I guess that's a good term for it. Very little hands-on, mostly just theory and competitive stuff.
