Counter strike Madden NBA2K Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear Mario Cart
I'm aware there are many different versions of these games but they're all great in my book. As you can tell I like FPS and sports games.

I could never list all my favorites, especially since I have multiple types of 'favorites'. I have favorites that WERE my favorite at that time in my life and remain so in my memories, but I know if I ever tried to go play them again it would ruin it for me. Most of my childhood falls in this category. I mean hell, I had the nintendo power issue about final fantasy (the first one) for like half a year before I finally got the game for my birthday and I OBSESSED about that game non stop before I ever played it once. I was a big RPG nerd as a kid with D&D and AD&D tabletop books n dice, and oldschool computer RPG games like the ultima series (2, 3,4,5 and finally 6 years later when it came out) which I was also equally obsessed with. etc.
So I guess when it comes to childhood games I have a big list, but never could I say one was better or more of a favorite then another, then I;d have another list for my late teen early adult years, then yet another list for stuff in the last 5 years or so I've been playing.
Some of the greats from my childhood list are:
The entire ultima series up to 6. I never had a computer good enough to play 7 until years after it came out, but it was awesome as well. 8 was....well...9..oh no... 10.. GAH ITS SO BROKEN I CANT RUN IT.
All the oldschool goldbox AD&D games. Best waste of childhood hours ever, even on my 4 color CGA monitor. Made by SSI partnered with TSR. Which btw, some of these guys just started a kickstarter to make a new game that pays homage to these originals. Games include the pools of radiance series (Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the silver blades,Pools of darkness, etc), the dragonlance series (champions of Krynn, death knights of Krynn, The Dark Queen of Krynn etc). The dragonlance probably were my overall favorite because I was heavy into reading all the dragonlance novels around that time as a kid / pre-teen, and its what got me into AD&D and RPG's to start with.
When I got my first nintendo my mom used to play Life force with me and we got so good I could go through the entire game and maybe die once. I tried a few years ago to play it again on an emulator and I couldnt even get halfway through the first level. maaaaaan.
I can even begin to name original NES and SNES console games past a few great like the final fantasy series and Zelda. Mike Tysons punch out and ghost n goblins, day of the tentacle, the list goes on and on and on and on and on.....
When I started getting a little older and playing at the local 7-11 or bowling alley for arcade games I got heavy into Street Fighter II and onward, the mortal kombat series, etc. I even played in a few official competitions. Of course as console versions came out of thes games I got those as well.
Around my early teen years is when I was able to start getting more into PC hardware since I ran a BBS and was also getting on the net for IRC (and gopher, yay!) and of course with my bbs and the warez I pirated came games galore.. Got started into 3d shooters fromt he original doom and wolfenstien. Got my first job helping a classmate set up his modem config correctly so we could play doom II together over mdoem connection, his older brother, a civil engineer, overheard the convo and offered me a part time job at their firm working on their computers and network. I got to play openGL doom on CAD systems which back then was ermahgerd awe inspiring. Also got to play it on an SGI machine running IRIX. (these were THE graphical workhorses of the day)

The games I've spent the most time with:
1. World of Warcraft 2. Civilization 4 3. Counter-Strike(before the existence of steam)
Civilization 4 I probably had the most actual fun with...maybe I'll try out Civ5 soon since its on linux.

Legacy of Kain 2:soul reaver (ps1)<---- such a rich engaging experience Legend of Zelda (NES)<----- I had an NES at launch. This game made me a gamer Tony Hawks pro skater (ps1)<----- so many stoned hours playing this shit when I was younger!!! Perfect dark (n64)<----- IMO crushed goldeneye. That suitcase gun?? Dope shit DCUO (ps4) <----- one of the best social games I ever played. Lost interest after a long time but I put maaaad hours into this game. Despite the flaws bugs and annoyances Fallout 3/fallout new Vegas (PS3) <----- such a great series. Still holding out for an MMO or at least the next gen version. GTA vice city (ps2) <---- my first experience with shrooms I spent playing this alone. XD final fantasy 1 (NES)<----- first true rpg I played. Kaboom (Atari 2600) <----- used to play this with my little sister when we were toddlers. That controller was crazy and we bonded at an early age from it.
No particular order. These are all games that had a legit impact on me as a gamer, but I have played so many great games. These come to mind for one reason or another as stated. Peace
