Cultivation going very slow, 2 weeks, no growth yet??

Hi, this is my first grow, so maybe there's something i'm missing.
I am using vermiculite at the bass of my container that has been dampened with water. I will spray the walls with water everyday. and fan as well.
I am checking the temp and is ideally from 70-75. sometimes gets lower than 70 but usually around 71. humidity usually is around 75-85. (working on getting it higher)
Its been 2 weeks. I am not seeing pinning or any growth or changes to be honest.
Am I doing something incorrectly? What can I do to help the cakes??

For starters vermiculite isn't used for keeping humidity. =(

ya you want perlite for the bottom of a shotgun. And you can get the spray directly on the cake, just give it a good fanning to evaporate (that's a big pin trigger)

And tiger.
Take a pic of your SGFC and where it's set up because I know there are more things wrong with this if you're using vermiculite to keep humidity...

OK SO I traded out with perlite. How does this setup look?
(the six on the right are 2 week old cakes (cakes are a little dry and hard, is that bad??), the rest I just birthed today!) Also, is the spacing okay??
some light during the day hours
coat to keep the heat in.
What do you think? old cakes a little hard and dry, is that normal? will they be okay? Spacing cool? any other advice? im going traveling soon and want these babies done! Thanks, Malika~

You really hit the nail on the head Gyo...
OP, you need to search how to build a shotgun fruiting chamber (SGFC). You need holes on every side of that chamber for the proper fresh air exchange, and for the perlite to serve its function. Also, you will need closer to 4" of perlite in there.. As for the coat, that will have to go -- once you have a properly constructed chamber, the coat will just interfere with air flow through the chamber.

yea that "breathing" is very important. Go with ... And the coat is just interfering. If its that cold I suggest a spaceheater with a plug in thermostat for the room. I keep mine at 70-72.
And spray those dry ones a bit heavy let it soak for a min then fan for a min. If they havnt put out fruits the inside shouldn't be too dry. (maybe you can tell by weight)...I predict when you get the airflow right, you will see some action..gooluck

Might also not want to put the cakes directly on the perlite. Put them on the jar lids.

hey friends, thanks so much! I got a good setup going the top lid is off set with a fan blowing gently up into it (and out) is it super bad to have them on directly on perlite? thought it would be good to moisturize the old ones for a moment What do you think? also, is below 70 sometimes going to be okay, like 65?

Yes,
Expect slow pinning but fat fruits. Take them off the perlite as they will colonize the perlite and take longer. Put a piece of foil cut down into a circle around your cakes. An easy way to do this is to take your jar lid and cut foil around the jar lid. Then put that underneath your shroom and cut it down to size in 3-4 cuts.
There should be no fan to an SGFC. Did you drill the holes like you were supposed to? Take that blanket off it. Is that a 6500k Daylight temperature light bulb? Why didn't you roll those cakes? You dunked for 24 hrs right? Why does one cake look huge? Were they all colonized in the same size jars?
I hope you're using the right kind of mister. You want a fine mist, nothing that spits thick blobs of water out like a windex sprayer or some shit.
Part 3 shows you how to build a terrarium and explains it.

I am new to this and am not doing a pro grow here so bare with me, i appreciate your help, thank you.
I am having trouble keeping it above 65 without a cover. it is cold here in NY and my landlord does not allow space heater. tricky situation. it is seated above the heat vent which comes on softly every now and then (we have no control over the heating here)
I did not dunk, i have heard people say to dunk and not to dunk, what is the benefit? i will do it if its hugely beneficial. (keep in mind, half of my cakes are over 2 weeks old, and some were just birthed yesterday)
what is rolling the cakes?
i have the right kind of mister, and some jars were smaller than others. just what i had laying around and bought some extras.
what is the benefit of using tin foil over just using the metal jar lids themselves?

dunking gives your cakes water, which is needed for growth. mushrooms are 90%+ water.
Rolling is rolling the cake around in vermiculite to give it an outer layer. It is said to give the cake a micro-climate with higher humidity.
you have holes in the sgfc to allow air exchange. putting a blanket over it will not allow any air to flow.
A jar lid is fine. The idea is to have separation of the cake and the perlite. I like to use foil because you can make it any size you want. I make it a bit bigger than the cake so the sides of the cake dont touch the perlite.
According to NY law, landlords cannot enter your premises without notice, unless of emergency. How would he know if you use a space heater unless he illegally entered your residence?

Good post Jesse, extremely informative. I live right across the water from NY so it's good to know what my rights are should I ever move to the big city. Are you sure you're not hiding your grow from someone?
That blanket will limit airflow and thus restrict FAE THUS causing low humidity. Lower temps is better then no humidity. Drill the holes and leave the blanket off. RR had brf jars colonize in 2 weeks in his brother's garage where temps ranged from 50-65 during the winter. They'll be slower but will fruit dense cubensis.
Is that bulb a 6500K Daylight Temperature CFL?

OK gotcha, that video is helpful too Not sure about the light, it is a CFL day light spectrum.
SO with 2 week old cakes and 1 day old cakes is it okay to dunk them ALL at this point? should I dunk them tonight for 24 hours? roll em tmrw?
how long does it take for them to grow to full?

If you haven't dunked dunk now for 24 hrs and roll in dry verm.
The 2 week old cakes should start producing fairly quickly and the 1 day old will take time but don't take my word for it because your temps are really low. Like I said they're gonna be some fat shrooms but you're gonna have yo wait on 'em
