Jurassic Park (Jurassic World) New Movie.
    #20882190 - 11/24/14 01:49 AM (9 years, 4 months ago)

Jurassic Park is the first movie I remember watching in theaters as a young child. That movie was a great introduction into the world of films for myself.

So there seems to be  new one coming out called "Jurrasic World". I personally can't wait to check it out even though the plot in JP 2 and 3 were pretty damn bad IMO.

What do you guys make of this new version?

The IMDB description goes like so:
Quote:

Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond.

Makes me damn excited if it holds up to the hype.

I completely agree the teaser trailer was garbage, but I'm hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised by the actual movie. They're working with an enormous budget so at least we know the CGI dinos and explosions will be pretty epic.

Enough loud dinosaur growls and things randomly blowing up puts my man mind into "this is a fucking great movie no mater how bad the plot is" lol.

Most likely you're right about it being a 3D movie. If that's the case I'm a get supa' stoney baloney and watch it at the IMAX down here.

What I'm not understanding is that some sources are saying it's being released in July 2015, and others around Thanksgiving. :strokebeard:

I liked the original book and the movie when it came out back in...I dunno, somewhere in the dark ages I suppose. All the rest was just cheap ripoffs making a quick buck on the original idea. Maybe cool if you're into the whole 3D animation and whatnot, but conceptually only the first movie (and technically, only the book) was worthwhile.

I'll check it out
I'm a big JP fan and I think the 1st and 3rd movies hold up really well to time

but the trailer doesn't impress me yet

I wasn't aware the original movie was based on a book. I'll have to check it out.

I was only 8 years old when the movie came out, and I watched it dubbed over in Portuguese. Still though, it was classic and laid down the groundwork for me enjoying films so much to this day.

Wasn't the 3rd one the one that ends with the T-Rex roaming around Los Angeles? If so, I thought that was a really bad one.

Do you know if there was a JP4? I don't have any recollection of seeing it.

I like how they made those bubble cars sort of based off those VW conceptual Hover Cars:

no the 2nd one was the t-res in LA
and I agree that one sucked

and the books pretty much cover all 3 of the movies at least a little

THIS IS JP4

I thought that was pretty cool as well. Cool little video you posted . Also, awesome that Chris Pratt is going to be the star of the new movie. I don't know how he's become so famous recently, but I've loved him as an actor in Parks & Rec for the past 7 years.

@Cosmicfool: I vaguely remember the JP4 logo. I'm going to stream it on Putlocker right now. All this talking about JP has got me in the mood to watch it.

And alright now I kind of remember. JP2 was the horrible one with L.A. T-rex, and the third one the cast went to that beautiful island dinosaur sanctuary in Central America. Correct?

Michael Crichton. He did a lot of sci-fi and he was actually a quite interesting author if you're interested in the ethics of technology and innovation. Back in university I had a colleague who was doing a PhD using his novels (among others) as data.

Very cool. I'm quite interested in the ethics of innovation & tech.

Which of Crichton's books would you suggest as my first read?

no I meant this movie is JP4

and I like the JP books but thought they were an overly easy read
they kind of glossed over everything and didn't go into tons of detail
it made the book fly by but it made it feel like it lacked depth

Really can't tell how it looks with a 4 second snippet. I like the idea of a new Jurassic Park with today's special effects. It could be badass.

JP1 is one of my favorites, too. Not my first film experience ever, but my first "mature" (ie. rated PG-13) film at age 7, and I had and still have a very high opinion of it. It just has it all.

I don't have high expectations for this sequel after the ridiculous JP3, but even if it was objectively terrible, that movie was reasonably entertaining in theatres and I'm sure this one will be too. I'll go to it expecting to see a special effects-laden popcorn-munching dinosaur action fest, and I'll probably be satisfied.
