cross breeding Red Spored mushrooms project

I have succeeded in obtaining a PF Redspore, a Redboy and a Rustspore print. My next objective is to grow a flush of each and make some more prints. I have already made a pint of LC of the Redboy. After a successful flush and prints, i wanna begin experimenting mixing the spores in an attempt to see if genetics cross and prehaps make a really red or rusty spore print. May try crossing with Oakridge. Ither way its just fun in games. Happy growing

considering I've never heard of any kind of crossing of this nature, gonna go ahead and say it did not work out for this guy

good job bumping a year old thread haha :banstick:
no but seriously...
considering each variety drops millions of spores, that makes each singular spore a different "strain" of genetics...
blending spores will not give you adequite results of cross breeding... and since they are essentially all the same (cube is a cube is a cube, except for PE) you are just piling spores of the same species on top of each other so they will basically grow together..
true cross breeding would be trying to combine a pan cyan with a ps. cubensis..
which is also pretty improbable..

That would be hybridizing.
Unless I'm mistaken you can cross 2 cubes by dropping spores on agar then streaking them to get single spore homokaryotic mycelium. Do it twice with different cube prints and put both cultures on a new agar plate and you should get a dikaryotic mycelium that is a 50/50 cross.

in a sense yes... but what you really end up with is myc competeing for ground with another variety...
not really a hybrid as much as it is two fruiting varieties in the same tub/casing..

of course it works, plenty of proof of that being grown as we speak. problem comes when crossing 2 cubes that look pretty much similar, how do you know if it worked?
and cube myc wont fight cube myc in a tub, same species and cubes cant read what you put on their label..

i havdnt done it yet. I have however somehow managed to get brown spores out of oakridge. The rustspore was a dud, and the redspore never came through.. But heres an old thread of mine you guys might find interesting...
