winter is coming; update 12/10/14

After being away from the mushroom scene for about 9 months and now I'm plannin on comin back.

I don't know why it didn't post the rest of what I wrote? well I have just inoculated 9 jars on the 22nd of October, this is my first grow since about February. I have a closet that stays from about 77-82 degrees and that is were I put my jars I made half the jars standard 2:1:1 but the last 4 jars I made them a little on the drier side (used a little more Verm and brf). I'll post pictures when I do my first check on Monday.

so after 5 days I'm lookin at 4 jars showing growth outa the 2:1:1 the 5th jar isn't showing anything. out of the other 4 jars that I made drier 3 of them are showing growth and the 4th one isn't doing anything. http://

ok so I inoculated 9 jars 8 days ago. 5 jars were a standard 2:1:1 brf cake, the last 4 I made a little drier but don't stray too far away from 2:1:1. they are in a boxin my closet that stays around 80 degrees (I live in the mountains so I make my place warm). the other day I opened my box and all te jars excep for 2 are showing promising looking growth, my concern is a weird smell. the smell is like metal or like your hand free you hold loose change, I steam starilized the jars so I can only assume the lids are causing this smell, but I would like other input. thanks! (as I said no discoloration or other smells and the mycelium looks heathy white)

ok so I checked my jars today and it's been 10 days since inoculation 2 jars have stalled out of the 9.

these are the jars that are showing good signs of growth.

this jar is in question and I think its a contam, if you look to the bottom left if the myc growth it looks funky. any input would but appreciated.

i threw the jar away, i check on them today as i cant tomorrow or the next few days because of work and two jars are at about 50% and the rest are at like 35%. hopefully the are ready by the holidays :mushroom2:

i just got a bigger lug to fruit the mushies in, i drilled all the holes 2 inches apart on all the sides and on the lid i cut a window which ill just put plexy over and super glue and tape it. I have a light im gone put over the window as well. (i can fit about 8 cakes comfy not jammed, last lug i could only fit 4 close together.) :thumbup:

just a few questions my cakes are about 70-80% colonized now so I am getting my new sgfc ready I drilled holes 2 inch apart and I know to put 5 inch of perlite other then that is 65-70 a good temp to fruit? this is my first grow in my new house (I live in the mountains so it gets cold). when the cakes are fully colonized and sit for a week I there any triks I can do after birthing to get a really good flush (besides a dunk for 24 hours and then a roll). any feedback would be nice, thanks!!

they are my favorite mazetepec imo they take a little longer to colonize but so worth the wait. I have tried golden t, PE, and Ecuadors hands down still my favorite

I was looking at getting some Mazatepec and Columbian. Right now I am experimenting with GT and Amazonian... wish I bought 1 other to give a go.

Cheers my friend! your jars look great! I have 5 jars of GT right now that are colonizing on the slower side, I'm also guessing this is because i live in the mountains as well and we are just getting dumped on!
