Anybody else heard of this? It's some kind of digital synthesizer from what I've read. Looks pretty damn interesting.

Yeah KORG in general is great stuff to get started
Personally I want both the Electribes EMX and ESX-1 (red and blue)
absolutely perfect for hardcore dance music, fast paced and the tubing is absolutely great! They have drum AND synth pattern

What benefits would there be having an actual synth/drum machine? As compared to a midi keyboard with everything that can control Reasons or Fruityloops? Unless you were doing something live?

The tubing, built in dynamics, effects, analog, mastering... You have a pretty good basis and can sound versatile from the getgo with these and I find that much more difficult with FL (same free plugins, same synths like everyone else, you have to do a lot of research and possibly a lot of misspent money imo)... Idk vice versa could also be said... maybe it's preference . Unlike Ableton you must create the patterns each time with FL, you can't really do "live"... So yeah pretty useful saving all that on drum pattern/synth. Music I like is very kickdrum/bassdrum heavy or focused on that and you have endless potential with these electribes when it comes that. All softsynth other then qtonic/microtonic have dissapointed me so far when using FL.
I think analog drummachine + keyboard/FL is uber though
How hard I try I can never really get that same feel even when I get the samples from Korg myself and yeah the live potential of the electribes are pretty nice
I kind of gave up on FL since I lost my last harddisk and I had way too many projects, most of my mastering was perfected to my liking and losing allllll dem samples (many selfrecorded too );
bummer cause its so fun... not that i'm particulary good

Ahh, yeah. Honestly if it was me messing with fruityloops it would sound terrible with a lot of the basic stuff since I don't know what I'm doing. But it doesn't take a ton of work at all to get it sounding like some grade a commercial music. Especially when using all the plugins from torrents and stuff. My friend on the other hand creates killer stuff with both of those, we use a variety of other programs too though. But considering that Reasons and Fruityloops do a lot more than just one instrument, it is a bit harder I think to learn completely. I've always wanted to get a studio with that stuff out as opposed to just on the computer but... $$$$
oh and I think one of the harder things is getting your samples, as well as making sure they hit correctly when you're making your doing stuff in fruityloops. Oh and yeah you can do live stuff in fruityloops. We do it all the time, well if you're talking like one instrument or whatever, and then you can create diff patterns too. I'm not sure, I might be being stupid here though. But I know he was doing some freestyle shit with the piano and stuff over like 15 minutes + and used it.
