My ancestors came to the US from Scotland. I support the Scots right to self determination.

I for one find the fact separatist movement retarded due to the further segregation of people....
What we need is alliances, not separatism

The centralization of power is disastrous for liberty. We need small autonomous states that respond to local regions not giant alliances.

That only creates super rich regions and super poor regions.
What I would like to see are nations that can make there laws as they wish, yet some sort of world government everyone contributes to in order to finance megaprojects on a planetary scale. Example: Building sanitation and water systems in Africa

No large centralization is prone to corruption. We need local control that is voluntary. When things are voluntary great things are accomplished.

Agreed. In US we could and should strengthen state's rights. But recently some of the initiatives chosen to assert those rights kinda suck like voting restrictions, women's contraception and exemption from Medicare. I wish I could think of some good examples. lol

I think the media played a big part with all the scary "what if" stories. Older people and women tend to worry about security more so a lot of the fear messages were aimed at them. In this vote, more men voted yes than women, even though there were threats of job losses if big banks and industry moved out.
All-in-all, independence was considered a long-shot and the pro-indy people made huge gains in just the last month. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to overcome the media bias and Westminister assclowns invading Scotland in the 11th hour and making all those promises of more autonomy for non-English member states. I hope some good comes from the exercise.
