I think I found more. They're printing now. Don't know if I'll be able to get photos up though... They look spot on, sans the obvious bruising. Its been hours since I collected them and they're just now beginning to hygrophanate. I've read in guides that the bruising can take several minutes to hours, but that seems odd. Last one I found was already blue when I found it. :strokebeard: I handled them very carefully, so we'll see if anything happens where I snipped the stems.

The humidity most likely plays a big role in bruising.

I like the one with them in your hand, Roy. Nice bluing too on some of them! Has anyone tried to clone this species and grow it out, either indoors or out?

I'm pretty sure the ones I picked yesterday were Corts... The spore print wasn't purple brown, just brown. I see lots of Cortinarius acutus group mushrooms with an annular zone often left behind, these didn't have that but I guess it could have washed off. They were fresh and moist too so the cap color was caramel and really threw me off. Spore print never lies! Plus when the fruits dry you can make a pretty good ID. That's becoming a real trick for me! Just let the mushroom lie around a bit, then study it. You can tell a lot by the way a fruit dries.

Sorry for my ignorance, but are most of you finding these in the woods or areas near the woods around dead/rotting logs? Or are some of you finding them in peoples yards or just well fertilized lawns in general?

Given the plethora of habitat shots in this thread, I invite you to first guess.

Go somewhere with a full canopy, virtually 100% shade is where I've found mine. This isn't a forest trail mushroom as far a I can tell.

I realize I'm about a month late, but congrats on your first Caerulipes find HashFinger! First find of the season no less!

No luck w/ Ovoids though, eh?

Next season if your still in OH shoot me one of those :pm: and maybe we can meet up and get some.

As for my Bluefoot search, I am still grasping at random LBMs and being disappointed.

Everyone else, awesome mycoporn! Truly inspiring.

Thanks bruh! It was a truly lucky find to be honest. I think back to finding it and realize how slim the chance was that I even saw the lone bastard, and didn't step on it! Lol. First day out hunting them of the season (which could start and end on a dime), chanced to pick the right habitat (I walked through the hemlock/beech grove last spring and just had that inkling :mushroom2:...), and whatdya know!? But yeah... still no 'voids. Lol I'll get those buggers! Then all hell will break loose... It's been a hot minute since I've had a nice mushroom trip! :mindblown:

The season will usually burn hard, and fizzle out so fast.

RIP 2014. Hope you hunters had a good run. :dead:

see you all in the next year (maybe)

i wouldn't dare to drop a smoldering match around here, been pretty annoyingly sunny for weeks.  I'll give it one more look if the temps hold up after the next rain, but if roy gets the honor of the last find this year, i want to tip the hat again to hashfinger for my success, meager as it was, i still found the lil buggers due to the thread.  thanks again, everyone, for the id confirmations and for the tips.

Any Caerulipes finds yet guys?

Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm really excited to find a few of these guys. I've been hooked on this and the 2013 thread. (for those interested I'd suggest reading every page of that thread.) I've read it front to back on numerous occasions.

My interest stems mostly from this find though.

Edit: Not my finds or photos. Interesting because they were found in my neck of the woods.

Were in the middle of a heat wave right now, but when the rain finally falls I will find them!
