Inoculated 2; 3 lb. 5-grain spawn bags on 7/22
set into an incubator tub @ 27.7 C ************************** reason for incubator tub: a/c set to low of temps during initial colonization. couple weeks in, a/c breaks, for a couple of weeks. During those weeks the temp was around 100 F (inside the room), i had the water inside the tub cooling with inter changing cold bottles of Sky, and Grey Goose. Never letting the temperature get above 29.9 C . covered with a sheet
The a/c was replaced with a small window one. only cools a room. **********************
lost 1 to green mold.
1 stalled for couple weeks at 75%
just finished pasteurizing 60:30:10 hpoo/verm/gypsum bulk substrate. mixed dry ingredients together inside a old pillow case, tied, stuck with a meat thermometer. set inside a pot and 'cooked' @ 170 F for 3/Hr. (Currently cooling) hpoo is from my pasture. i have horses
**Brought to Field Capacity before used in spawning**
In the morning ill be opening up my grain bag. not 100% colonized. removing un-colonized grains.(maybe >10%)
*Smells like mushrooms*
spawning to bulk substrate at 1:5 into plastic trays. (3;1 1/2'' deep plant starter trays,1;2'' deep tray from walmart rotiserrie chicken,1;2'' plastic paint liner cut&taped)
set into incubator / SGFC covered w/ wax paper awaiting re-colonization.
once recolonized. ill be casing 1/4'' thick with sphagnum peat moss, verm, peletized lime. (dont have a ph tester, using 1cup peat:1tsp lime:1cup verm ratio)
casing will be pasteurized in a pillow case same method as bulk substrate. (Using jars to pasteurize, finished lids)
2-3 of the trays will be set into a SGFC (27QT) 1/4'' holes drilled 2'' apart on all six sides (under handles aswell)filled with 3-4'' of perlite.
2 trays are cased and immedietly set outside in a shaded area, with tall grass surrounding the tray. it fruited overnight, approx 24 hrs after casing. the trays were cased 2 days after the trays inside the SGFC.
what do you guys think?
***update*** 9/9
***Update 9/10 ***
growth look normal? also, so theirs no confusion, these are NOT cased yet. awaiting recolonization
***UPDATE 9/11*** picture upload failure
***UPDATE 9/12***
**UPDATE 9/14**
****UPDATE** 9/15
**UPdate 9/16****
Fruiting Day 1
***UPdate 9/17*** Fruiting Day 2
**UPDATE 9/19*** Fruting Day 4
***UPDATE 9/20*** Fruiting Day 5 ; Outdoor Day 2
inside the SGFC indoors. pins/mini mushies already forming everywhere pics might not show it that well
i threw 2 trays outside cased yesterday. and they formed before the ones inside today. the SGFC trays followed hours later
**Update 9/21*** Fruiting Day 6; OutDoor day 3
**update 9/22*** Fruiting Day 7; OutDoor Day 4
upgraded my lighting --->
**UPdate 9/23** Fruiting Day 8 , Outdoor Day 5
i beleive the all cap no stem IS IN FACT a water problem. i say this due to the evidence of one tray outside that i make sure i mist.(not often now) since refraining from misting, only the perlite in SGFC gets misted. i have had about 9 of the caps, grow stems. (still under investigation) i know FAE is NOT the issue, due to outside tray being outside.
*update 9/24** Fruiting Day 9 ; Outdoor Day 6
first harvest (SGFC) ]almost 7g dried:
*UPDATE 9/25*
9/26 - taking a print looking for Lizard King Cubensis print / syringe
***Update 9/28*** SGFC trays re-pinning. will post pics in a day or two showing the new mushies
*Update 9/29* - 2nd Flush
*UPdate 10/6* all trays contaimed except 1, it is currently on its 5th flush

I forgot to say yes just go monotub with the incubator tub I've never used a fish pump for constant FAE a lot of ppl are really against it but with the mono and fanning manually you will be fine that's how ppl have been doing it for a long time

yup
you want your spawn to be at room temperature. it will be just fine.
using an incubator may favor contamination and also if your bag gets too hot, it can kill or slow down colonization

If u think u can do it go for it, but IME pan monotubs are hard to pull off cuz of the fact that they like a thin substrate and if doing a monotub your sub provides your humidity which is more important with pans than cubes. Also, a mono doesnt provide the FAE of a SGFC which is more important than the humidity. If it were me I'd do trays in a SGFC

That spawn bag in the first pic looks bacterial. Is that what I used for all of em? It is a bad pic, but still don't look right.
Edit: I can see better in the pics of the 2 jars, those are def bacterial. When the mycelium looks like its melting off the grain, kinda like melted Ice cream, def sign of bacteria. Nothing u can do about it now, just so u know for next time and can fix the problem.

might be a bad pic. IMO , it doesnt look like what your describing. but i already spawned to bulk and in trays. only had small fraction of colonized left, i threw it into some jars just cause i had no where else to put it.
from everything iv read and looking thru a lot of pictures. my myceil looked normal
edit: but what do i know, from just descriptions and looking at pictures

It may still fruit depending on how badly it was contaminated. It will still colonize for sure, contams are trickey. It takes a while to see bacteria on spawn but to me it looks like water is clinging to the grains and the myc looks like melted ice cream or something. What happens usually is the bacteria will weaken the myc and it will contam with mold of some sort. Just keep an eye on them. U can solve the prob next time by making sure to start with a clean culture (agar) and get your moisture content right in the grain spawn. This is the only pic I have, see how the jar on the left has exposed grains but the jars on the right has all the grain that the myc is on completely covered even tho it's not fully colonized? The right jars are normal, the left are bacterial.

perfect. . they looked exactly like the one on the right. the pics in the jars might get contamed but the white that you saw deff did not look like the jars on the left. the pics of the grains in the jars, are just scrappings of mycel and prob too wet of sub off the table after mixing maybe thats why the pics looked similiar. idk, but the texture i see in your pictures for sure make me think it wasnt contaimed. idk tho. we shall see in a few days right :P
