That one was real creepy.
OP: If you have a PS4, check out P.T. it's apparently a demo for the new Silent Hill game, and I've heard it's terrifying.
Yeah that silent hill demo was pretty fucking freaky. I've only watched a trailer of someone completeing it.. Actually playing it would probably be even worse. That game is going to be a great if they go off of the demo. But the people working on it are a power house.

Dead space is NOT a horror game and I hate the fact they try to sell it as one.

It's horror in the same way I'd consider BioShock a horror game. The tension, heavy atmosphere, and fascinating storylines really made those games intense.

If the main focus is to watch things die then it's horror
if the stuff is already dead then it's sci fi

Deadspace 3 was more scifi, However both, and especially deadspace 2 were Horror for me. I would only play at night, alone, sometimes on a low dose of hallucinogens. Could never play more than 10 - 20 mins at a time haha I get way to immersed in the games and am scared shitless every time some shit starts to go down.
"Deadspace 2&3", "Doom 3", "P.T.", "The Suffering" and "Amnesia" are the only games Ive played that have ever given me those types of immersive feels

something can be both horror and sci-fi
horror refers to anything that attempts to elicit fear Sci-Fi explores the potential consequences of scientific and other innovations (positive or negative)

S.T.A.L.K.E.R is pretty good if you're into pc gaming. The second one, Clear sky is alright, and Call of Pripyat is awesome.

I only consider "survivor horror" games to be true to their name horror games.
Example, Resident Evil 4 is NOT a horror game either and all the proceeding games as well. I'm sorry but It's not a damned horror game if you are stocked to the gills with 5 different types of guns all at full ammo. That's just stupid.

I agree, RE4 was not survival horror, it was a Vin Diesel movie. RE went off the rails after Code Veronica.

You guys are talking about Suspense/Horror then
RE4 fits the criteria for horror with the various death animations and I would say that there are at least 4 moments with a creep factor going on.
REmake is definitely a suspenseful game the first playthrough

I played the living shit out of Onimusha and Onimusha 3 back in the day. It's not really scary but they were legit games for sure.

B0 with the good picks in this thread. F.E.A.R was one of my favorites for a long time. The AI, the vibes, the fact that you could turn somebodies guts into a bloody ruin with a shotgun in slow-mo, the fact you had basically a rifle with no recoil that fired fucking railroad spikes that could pin enemies to walls....everything about that game was grade A stuff. Can't speak for the 2nd and 3rd ones though.
