What!? Really?
So I had a friggen' blast playing the open beta and am looking forward to release day. I remember when Halo was first released for the Xbox and I had a blast just playing the campaign in co-op mode with my brother, let alone the online aspect. And I got that same feeling again with Destiny which is pretty cool IMO. The story actually had me wanting to explore and figure out wtf was going on in more detail. The artwork I thought was phenomenal and the gameplay smooth as silk.
Some things that I hope for though is a little more social infusion. I mean, it's set up as an MMO more or less but the one single town setting is pretty sad. In the time I was playing I never saw more than a handful of people in the town at any given time. And that's with everyone only having the one town to go to. Seems to me a testament to the lack of worth in actually going to the town or spending any time there at all. Maybe crafting will provide some incentive. I didn't pay any attention to whether or not trading of materials will be possible.
So what do you guys think of this game? Are you going to buy it here in September? Have you already pre-ordered? Did you play the beta?

It looks cool, but its not the type of game I usually play. I was planning on getting it until I saw that its made by the people that made Halo. I heard it gets boring after a while too. Is that true?

Even if you don't like it chances are the landscapes will draw people in just like how GTA's characters kept everything new

Ok, I'll buy it and then sell it if I don't like it. It does look really good. I'm going to play Diablo first. I've never played any of the previous ones.

I have been really contemplating getting Diablo 3 as there really isnt much for the ps4 atm. I played demo on the 360 and really didnt like it. Felt like barely a step up from diablo 2 and seemed boring and familiar. Though Ive been watching a lot of gameplay trying to get hyped because I actually really wanna get it deep inside lol
But yeah if your not sure about destiny try watching this 30 min video covering everything we know. Im realllyy into every aspect so far

My friends been playing it since alpha and he can't say enough good things about it. I'm probably going to buy it opening day, but I've stayed spoiler free up until now. But I hear it's what that colossal disappoint of a game borderlands was supposed to be.

lol I loved borderlands so I can't back that up the RPG progression in a FPS is like crack for me
but I do think aside from the humor that was in Borderlands, Destiny has it beat in every way

I've heard tale that they are going to support/develop for the game for the next 10 years which is a pretty epic lifespan for a game if true

I heard that also but I think it really means more along the lines of the IP in general. This exact game probably won't get exactly 10 years of loving care, but it will get a drawn out extended snuggle like they did with the many halo games. This entire IP with sequels and offshoots and what not will probably last the full 10 year + is the idea.

Yeah I think you're right. Just read this though and it sounds promising that they are getting more foresight post-halo:
Quote:
Looking forward, Destiny has grand ambition under its ten-year contract with Activision, and an enormous team within its studio to make that happen. As such, Parsons had to reflect on how Halo evolved over its own ten-year lifespan within Bungie's control, and create a view for the future that could survive into the next next-gen console era, should one even arise.
"We didn't understand the arc of where Halo went," he admits. "Now we have an opportunity post-Halo to sit back and figure out what we want to have happen. I'm not talking about knowing exactly where the story's going to go, but we understand what we want to do over time and how we think that [will] play out. That informed our technology, our team, and everything else we were never able to do with Halo."
