[screw trays, let's do monos] I need help! Monotubs stunted in growth

I inoculated 12 brf jars with golden teachers recently, but during inoculation I had a hard time shaking up the spores in the syringe. I shook vigorously for 2 minutes and they just clumped together in there. It has been a week now and I really only see 2 jars with growth.
I was thinking to break them up into trays. I have some Pyrex dishes that are nice and flat, could I use those to colonize then take the bricks out and place in my sgfc? Any good tray teks/tips or recipes worth sharing? Thanks guys!

Uncolonized spawn will contaminate when introduced to open air. Even with the clumps of spores there were still a bunch floating around the syringe that you can't really see with the naked eye. Don't stress it and just let em sit and do their thing.

I know that. I'm saying when they fully colonize, I'll transfer them to a tray.

You'd get better results spawning the cakes to bulk rather than just crumbling them into a tray by themselves in which case would just take extra time to recolonize for no other purpose than just having the cake take the shape of a tray rather than the shape of a jar.

I would crumble them and mix them with a half a brick of coir. You can either sterilize or pasteurize your coir. I pasteurise mine in a bucket. You want you substrait to be between 3 and 4 inches deep. Once it is fully colonised you can fruit it in a SGFC but i would leav it in the tray or it will dry out much faster.

You can always use a seedling tray as a fruiting chamber too... works fab with cake spawns.

Hmm I do have some coir lying around I haven't used yet. I think I'll stick to the tray though instead of bulk, just not enough jars. Also good idea on losing water, I'll keep them in the tray when I place them in. Here's to hoping some of my other jars show myc
I have some organic coffee beans as well. I've heard you can add a small amount of coffee to your water content when you are making your substrate mix? Worth the effort?

Coffee is prone to contam, best not as a new grower.

I put coffee in all my subs. One of my PE trays is 80% coffee. I like the results i get with coffee but mold dose love it so it may not be worth the risk for you.

I have had GREAT success spawning BRF cakes to bulk Coir/Verm/Gypsum. I see no need for trays in a SGFC honestly. But i am biased as i tried to fruit cakes a dozen times without success, then i spawned my last few remaining cakes to coir and BAM, all of the sudden i was growing mushrooms

honestly, its up to you.
it will work either way as long as you use enough cakes!
how many cakes do u have?
i would use like 10-12 cakes for a monotub

Here's the real question... Have you done cakes successfully in a SGFC? Were you happy with the results? I was very successful with cakes and did NOT do well with Bulk, wasted a LOT of cakes trying. I ended up returning back to cakes in a SGFC and made a TON of prints...
Think long game here... If you can do SGFC successfully do trays and print everything you get. Then, you can try Bulk on your next attempt. That's what I would do...

i disagree completely.
bulk is easy and more rewarding than a cake grow. hell, even trays in a SGFC would be more rewarding than just cakes.

not if you've never done it, so you try it and you fail... You have nothing.
The method I'm suggesting give you fruits, prints and more wiggle room to fail an attempt at bulk next time. That's all I'm suggesting.

I understand what you are saying,
but spawning to coir is pretty much fool proof and will give you higher yields, and you can print as well

I went straight to bulk without ever doing cakes and it worked out great for me. In my opinion cakes are out dated. Why bother with old school methods when ther are better options available now.

A PF-tek grow done the right way, to the T every step of the way is so noob friendly and easy and will IMO do better than most noobs half ass attempt to go cake -> bulk.
I never had results like faht, but making a SGFC step by step is easier than dialing in a mono on your first attempt and will probably give you better results.
The problem is that most noobs dont follow the tek. Those who do (for some reason most of those are girls!) get excellent results from 1st attempt!
