Doc 34's WBS ( with rye quick question )

Hey I am most comfortable with this tek, always a success, my WBS just took 2 months to colonize in jars... I am going to do some new wbs jars with coffee additive and gypsum.
My question is: I am doing some rye jars also can i use docs tek for rye? besides PCing a little longer and not needing to fish net floating seeds is there really any difference?
Can you mix WBS and rye?
Thx

You can mix grains as long as you can get the moisture right. Tht's why most teks don't work well for both.
Post a link to this WBS tek you speak of.

2 months is a long time to colonize a jar, could be too wet or too dry

Doc34's tek is ok, if you exclude the post-simmer rinse.
For rye, I reduce the soak time to 8-12 hours. Otherwise everything stays relatively the same.

I started with this tek 3 years ago. It leaves everything too wet.

Or not enough spore solution injected! Or never shaking the jar at some point! I say not enough solution!!!

Leave the floaters. I can't think of a good reason to discard them.

I personally discard the floaters because it means they are hollow'ish and there's not much there to absorb water. Just kinda an air pocket and isn't an efficient use of space in my spawn jars.

Floaters are mostly sunflower seeds and sunflower seeds have lignins and oils which are great for mycelium to eat.
Any oily seeds like flax, rapeseed, sunflower, etc are great in amounts around 5 percent of your spawn.

i take my floaters out and just set them aside for a seperate jar all together or toss it into my outdoor subs they don't hold water for shit which is why i do them seperate

I find it easier to remove the seeds than leave them in. I just scoop them out with all the other garbage. I don't make it a point to get them all out, but I do remove the ones I notice.

Thanks everybody for the info, I ended up using two separate teks, pretty similar, I am not doing a post simmer rinse and making sure I have gypsum and coffee in there, I think my jars were too cold in the past ( cold state ) I may incubate with reptile heater.
