phone NHS direct on 0845 46 47 they have trained nurses who can tell you whether you need to go to the doctor, go to A+E, call an ambulance or stop worrying about.

Oh well.
Anyway... It does seem strange to me, that (maybe) a galerina would grow among a batch of liberty caps...
Where i live, liberty caps grow in abudance on pastures at elevation from 700-1500 meters, but i've never noticed something poisonus growing right amongst them. (And i hunt mushrooms from the age of 7 and liberty caps from the '93.)
But then again... Slovenian Alp mountain region is, i guess, quite different habitat for liberty caps than UK countryside...

It is a different habitat Quincunx (apart from maybe mountainous parts, eg Wales) but I've never noticed any poisonous species growing with Liberty Caps over here either.

Hey all. Soz for not posting earlier... anyway, here is my story for anyone who cares to read.
After a goodnight sleep (and some really fucked up dreams about dying), i actually felt better in the morning. I met up with a friend who came into A&E with me.
As i got there, the receptionist was a lady in her 50's, she asked "What's wrong with you", and i replied "Um... i think i might be poisoned.", she replied, "Poisoned! how?" and i said "er... it could be a mushroom". "What Mushroom!?" she replied. I looked at her for a second and then said "a poisonous one". She then told me to sit down and wait.
So i was finally lead into a room, with 3/4 staff hovering around me making it extremely awkward to announce "i've been taking magic mushrooms". They tested blood pressure, lungs, temperature and pulse.. all were fine. The doctor was eastern-european, it's wrong to judge but you just KNEW he'd never seen a drug in his life. When i said "My real concern here is that i've eaten a poisonous mushroom" he looked a mixture shocked, scared and disapproving. I haven't felt so awkward in years.
All he did was say, in bad english, "Maybe you have an ill stomach from bad mushroom, see ur GP if symptoms get worse". I REALLY needed a bloodtest to see if any kidney or liver damage was evident but was denied one. I don't even think he realized it was wild mushrooms being consumed.
That night, the muscles inside my chest and stomach were twitching a lot, i had great fatigue and kept going from very hot to very cold. I was sitting around my room saying to myself "shit im gonna die, shit im gonna die" and contemplated what to do.
Browsing health sites in what seemed a desperate attempt for help, i realized i had all the symptoms for General Anxiety Disorder.
I was definitely ill with some sort of stomachy-thing after the mushrooms were eaten, diareah etc... but somewhere i also collected a host of physical side-effects from anxiety. Which added to my concern and panic.
It's hard to say for sure what is wrong from self-diagnosis, but at the end of the day I am well again.
I'm not fucking with mushrooms again, although i read no research has shown any long-term problems, from the high, this anxiety and fucked up dreams they've evoked days after, they must be SERIOUSLY bad for your mental health.
I'm sticking to less head-fucking drugs like ecstasy and speed, which merely make u feel great for a few hours.. shit for a few more.. then back to normal again.

what seems to have been really bad for your mental health is the painful awarenes that you may have eaten something that can kill you in a verry unpleasant manner, coupled with the uncertainty. this is not healthy at all and i understand.
if you choose to stay clear of mushrooms then it is not nessecarily a bad thing.

Eh. If anyone would be poisoned with amatoxin there's no need for he/she to mention or explain anything about "magic mushrooms".
People pick and eat edible mushrooms every day. Mushroom poisoning is common to all mushroom hunters, not only to "magic mushroom" hunters.

I'm very glad to hear that you don't seem to have been seriously poisoned. As you noticed, anxiety about possibly being poisoned can produce some pretty distressing symptoms.
The doctor's advice about seeing if the symptoms get worse might sound like he was putting you off, but the really serious toxins would cause you to get *very* sick a few days later. As in sick enough that you'd have to be in a hopsital just to keep from dehydrating from the vomiting and diarrhea.
Unfortunately, there are no antidotes for mushroom toxins (except muscarine). So, if you are poisoned, they can only provide supportive care. If organ damage becomes serious enough to cause failure, organ transplants enter the picture. Fortunately, only a very few kinds of mushrooms cause anything as serious as organ damage. The vast majority cause irritation to the GI tract, causing you to vomit and have diarrhea until all the mushroom bits have been expelled (and sometimes a bit extra, just for fun).
Mushrooms can be eaten safely (I've been picking and eating wild mushrooms for over 25 years without once being poisoned), but it requires that you be *very* picky about which mushrooms you eat. Take the time and effort to learn how to accurately identify the mushroom(s) you're interested in. The only ones you eat are ones you're certain of. You can study the others you your heart's content, and you will learn to recognize more species you can safely eat through those studies.
If you intend to eat wild mushrooms (for whatever reason), it's a really good idea to learn all the deadly mushrooms. Then you can look over any mushrooms you intend to eat and make certain that you're not eating a mushroom known to be deadly, or even one that's similar. That way, if you get poisoned, you can at least calm yourself with the thought that you're only going to get sick for a few hours or days and then be OK.
One of the biggest reasons the numbers of poisonings and deaths due to mushroom poisoning in the US are so low is that society here spreads the idea that eating a wild mushroom will kill you. In Europe and Asia that belief is relatively nonexistent. In a bad year in Europe they will have as many or more mushroom poisoning deaths as the US has had in the last century. A high percentage of the fatal poisonings here are immigrants who don't have a taboo with eating wild mushrooms, and who sometimes mistake a deadly species here with an edible one from their original country.
As far as the street drug bit goes, you might look into ways of making sure that what you're buying is what it's supposed to be and not contaminated with something you don't want. There are altogether too many poisonings of people who got a bad batch of whatever.

I'm glad you did eventually go for medical attention raas, and I can sympathise with you in respect to all the foriegn doctors we seem to have (notably indian, pakistani, eastern european) that seem to have no idea of what they are talking about half of the time, I've experienced this many times with different problems, none relating to this though.
I totally agree with ToxicMan, and wish you all the luck for the future especially now that you seem to have the all clear. Remember.... knowledge is power. Research, research, research....... and this problem would have never arose.
