Amazing Chaga Find #2 (4/20 Find) - Pictures of harvest before/after...quite the job!
    #19874323 - 04/20/14 02:53 PM (9 years, 11 months ago)

I spotted this near the last large chaga I found and harvested a few days ago, finally got out there to harvest it.

I'll say this.  It was raining, dark and cloudy, and roughly 25-30ft off the ground.  Took about three hours altogether, I made step beams with a hack saw on forest floor wood chunks and hammered them into the tree with 5" x 1/2" nails to make the climb possible.  I only used the hack saw to remove one piece - you'll love the size/pictures of that one and the rest I removed with a hatchet.

I am WRECKED.  Going to do the smart thing and invest a pillow case for smashing all of this stuff to bits for easier processing.  The weight is almost as much as before and it's 100% pure, I probably could have harvested more and and picked more up off the ground in tiny pieces but I did good in the time I had allotted.  I'd also invested 120$ into some really good climbing/all-terrain shoes yesterday which helped.

A Chaga harvest done right.  And yes I verified it is white birch although it is hard to tell in the pictures.

Time to relax and celebrate 4/20

I love the piece I took off with a hack saw, 1 of 2 biggest - 4th to last picture.  shows how the sclerotia grows in a near brain-sliced manner..  God I can smell it across the room, I'm probably gonna smash it all up to dry in a bit here...much better/softer when moist than trying to work on it for days and days when it is dry lol...

Also have all this finished, not much and I gave away a quart to a local friends dad who had throat/lung cancer and just had surgery/is off chemo and radiation.  Looks like someone slit his throat.

I think my camera got fucked up by the rain :/

Got a good thing going..

Most is going to donations and personal supply... rest is going into sales with 200 proof organic ethyl alcohol double-extraction tinctures, and I may wait until I can do an equal measure triple/quad tincture with Reishi, Turkey Tail, Shittake & the chaga.  Going the whole 9 yards.
