Tuber Oregonense?

One of these rolled out of a pile of duff I was raking as I trimmed back some junipers in the yard, I picked it up thinking it looked funny for a rock, squeezed it between my fingers and it crumbled away. Found a few more when I searched that pile of duff and realized they might be truffles. Funny thing was, I've been having a ridiculously difficult time dissuading squirrels from not ripping up a nearby mushroom patch (c. oliveri), much more so than all the others in the yard, but now I know they were looking for truffles and raiding the mycelium from my own patch instead. Bastards.
Gave a nice fatty to Ganzig, hopefully he can get them scoped. Are these what I think they are?

They look like truffles to me, I'd post them on Mushroom observer, might have better luck getting them ID there. How do they smell?

They smell like a mix between some kind of stinky cheese and a ferret's musk, which I guess is a good sign.
I looked into them and it seems that T. gibbosum fruits in the spring rather than the fall so that might be the more likely species. Any potentially inedible lookalikes anyone know of?

Hymenogaster & allies from Mushrooms Demystified lists a bunch of false truffles. I'm not sure the best way to separate the two. Does the inside have chambers or is it a solid mass?

those are indeed oregon whites. i found about 6 oz. of them this year and between the pics and the described smell, i'm sure of it. congrats.
couple things i found experimenting.
making oil was fairly unsuccessful but putting a couple of raw eggs in a tupperware with them for a few days infused the eggs nicely. the real treat was buying some really good neutral sheep milk cheese and putting them in tupperware. the cheese completely sucks up the smell. then shave the cheese over anything for a sensational olfactory hit. try smoked salmon with this cheese on brioche or rye crackers. any cheese worked, i also enjoyed sharp and tart chevre as well. i found it really easy to overdo the truffles. its almost more a smell thing vs a taste thing.
great find!

Awesome, thank you! They definitely taste good and add a nice earthy/musky aroma to a dish, I just grated a small amount over some eggs over-easy and a tiny bit added a very delicate musky aroma. Definitely more of a smell than taste thing. I don't see how people go crazy and pay such outrageous prices for them but I suppose their rarity is a large part of what makes them valuable. I could however, just keep one in my pocket and sniff it every few minutes, the smell is oddly pungent yet addicting.

for the truffle cheese - see above for the smoked salmon - you can buy it but i prefer to make it with a dry cure on the sweeter side. then just get some good crackers or a baguette and nom away oh, and capers don't hurt either!
