On my second grow attempt and will do a full grow log later.
Just wanted some opinions on these Maza cakes....do they look okay?
I think they are, but just wanted to make sure. My first grow cakes were much dryer.
But this one looks like heavier mycellium to me. Or does this seem to indicate too much water?

look ok to me, why did you not roll them in verm after dunking them the first time?
proper procedure is to roll them in vermiculite after the first dunk as far as i know...

Yeah you need to roll for the exterior microclimate where pins form.
However, that myc looks like it could be knotting for pins anyway. Keep us updated and we'll do the same for u

Thanks everyone for the input. I know i should have rolled after dunking, but it seemed to
have stunted my first grow. Or i just percieved that it did.
On my first grow, after i dunked a second time and got the verm off; thats when they started
pinning. But again, that was my first time and i was overly concerned
and trying anything. My first grow i had major issues keeping the cakes hydrated...they were drying
out and bruising even when misting like crazy.
I'm hoping i've dialed down a better science this time.
I'll monitor them and will check back in with updates.

I assume the dry verm layer helps to retain water on the surface too, the evaporation of this water OFF the substrate is (so i'm told) a primary pinning trigger.
Keep at it, you're doing better than me so far!

Some more pics. Anyone seeing anything out of place?
Here we are a week in fruiting and nothing going on.
I did wait my extra week after 100% colonization.
Just like my first grow.....here i am on second grow and
having issues with fruiting.
Trying to dial this in. Wondering if theyre too wet and not enough FAE; or vice versa.
I swear if SGFC doesnt work this time...im moving to monotub.

Definitely roll next time ^.^
Try getting a 6500k bulb (you'll be able to search which is best exactly). Light and evaporation off sub are primary pinning triggers.

Its only a week and it can take much longer. U need to create high humidity at the surface of the cake. This is usually done by rolling misting and fanning. Evaporation from the surface is a major pinning trigger and you should get results soon if u fan and mist when needed. That is when the cakes begin to loose their gleam(like due on morning grass). Without a casing layer/verm roll the cakes will not get that pre-longed surface humidity that gives you a great pin set.
As soon as you have achieved pins, with the right light and plenty of FAE you should see good results.

Thanks everyone. I do have the correct ligting on a 12/12 off/on cycle.
I guess i should have rolled them!! Oh wells. They still do like they will
explode with pins anytime in certain areas. You'd think id have
Learned patience by now.  I'll hang back a while longer and keep you
all updated.

Because when i did my first grow a year ago, i was freaking out and i thought it stunted
Them....after i washed it off and redunked them, they started
pinning.
Again it was probably just my perception of that that made me
decide to not roll this time.
Is it too late to roll at the point? Wouldn't the mycelium just have to recolonize
the verm? I dont want to delay them by rolling now. But if it can still be done and
would help then im all for it!
Maybe I should cold shock these mofos? Or maybe i'm just
loving them to death and need to chill? LoL

That cake looks contammed as fuck to me man. Theres brown and red colouration all over it. If it aint right it aint right. Shoulda tossed it long ago.
Sometimes shrooms cause blobs, especially Penis Envy strain. Heres one on my cakes
but I've never seen them like that before. Bacteria IMO

Theyre definitely not dry. Still heavy and I have been misting. Also not contaminated, there is no red...the lighting/camera must be causing that....brown yes where there is still some verm/brf under the mycelium.
I went ahead and re-rolled them and will see what happens.
These are maza cakes.
