pcI3.0 ports are backwards compat with pci 2.0 chords

just make sure the powersupplies plugs work with the graphics card

make sure the power supply you buy is like at least 60-80 dollars and is like 550w

buy the most expensive name brand mem, harddrive, SSD you can buy(like samsung)

windows 7 is like 100 bucks so factor in that

uhm I want to say get an i5, or at least go with a high priced i3

for the graphics nvidia x60 or higher so like 560 ti, 660 are the same exact card 670, 770 same card, just later release

yeah even if you don't have a GPU you can at least get in some gaming until you have enough money

so when you do spend that money you can get a deal and go like balls to the fucking wall overpowering current gen graphics lol

Does anyone think he needs a soundcard?

Can anyone give us a quick run down about installing his operating system on an SSD for a fast boot up?

that set up looks fucking nice but cheap I don't understand lol, i5 has gone down in price like 30 bucks or something

the i5 will save you money on not having to buy a cooling fan or whatever..

so yeah make sure the mem is compat with the mobo

make sure the GPU has sockets for the power supply

yeah, the onboard gpu of the i5 won't be running your games though if you have a GPU

I honestly never built a Computer I just researched the fuck out of it.

so if the i5 can run the games do I really need a seperate GPU?

see, I know almost nothing about computers, much less how to build one.. I just know it's the way to go

If you dont want to build it yourself you can get a nice system from http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/

No matter what 800 is going to be a little harder to get a really good gaming pc on, just because video cards (GPUs) are so complex now a days that they cost way more then your CPU does.

IMO if you have 800 NOW but can get another say 300 in a month or two, build a nice computer with a build on graphics card, then when you save up another 200 or 300 buy a nice video card and plop it in yourself.

it's more like I'll have 800 or so in a few weeks more than likely but everyone tells me that with 800 and building one I should be able to run most games out now a days, is that not the case?

I know I sound stupid probably, I really don't know what i'm doing hah

I have been a die hard AMD fan since way way way waywa waywaywaywaywaywyawya back in the pentium MMX days, but now a days they just are not as great for gaming performance.  Intel has been superior in that region for a long time and they have made sure even their cheaper chips do well just to target gamers.

I didnt check this list before I made my prior post also.

The fact that this has a GT770 for the video card means it will do REALLY well on most any game out right now.  IMO I would spend a bit more on the other parts like a nicer motherboard for example, and buy a 770 later when you are ready, but it all boils down to your money flow and if you must have it all at once or can do some parts later.

I could probably upgrade later down the line, but would you say that for my money right now that the build recommended would do fine for at least a few months?

I want to play things like skyrim, the witcher series, total war, etc.

edit: or would I be better off buying something from that site you linked?

AMD is more simple stupid tech.  I am ignorant about Intel CPU's.

Oh, if you have no idea how to build a PC, and you dont have a friend who can do it for you, I would suggest AGAINST trying to do it yourself if only because if you fuck something up and fry something you might eat a chunk o cash just because you didnt know any better.  Building PC's is pretty easy now a days but IMO you should learn the hardware with a working system or by upgrading it part by part over time for less risk.

Unless you can eat the cost of parts you screw up.  The way a lot of my friends learned was I would help them build their new PCs.  They would come to me to ask for part advice and then when everything came in they would come over or I'd go there and make them "do the work" but be there teaching them as they went.

could you recommend a good setup from that site then? I'd reeeeally appreciate it dude

The pcpartpicker parts you listed would play any current games just fine.  They did give you a good video card in that list.  But do you know how to put it together or do you have a friend who can come over and do it for you/help you out?  Its not something you really want to step by step be posting on the shroomery as you do it ya know.

Basically to keep you under budget your friend got you a super cheap motherboard, and cheap other various parts, in order to get you a nicer video card, which is good for gaming, but IMO a cheap motherboard might screw you down the line.  Thats why I said if you can afford to spend 800 now and skuip the video card, you can get more ram, a nicer motherboard, maybe a better power supply or case, etc etc, then just spend 200 to 300ish in a month or whatever and buy a nice video card and plop it in.  But that means you wont really be gaming on higher graphic games until you get the new video card.

Dont forget to take in the cost of someone building that for you if you cant do it yourself.
