Thanks man! Its crazy... I was hunting creeks for almost four hours yesterday morning and not even a pin could be found!! I was walking back to my car and on the side of the trail, I find three morels, side by side, bigger than my hand! Then I was driving out of the park an hour or two later and look out the window.... a patch of 15-20 morels! On the side of the road, next to a giant lake, on a steep hillside covered in leaves.... crazy
and that sucks! It was almost hot yesterday and tonight it is going into the high 20's! What is going on lol... I have no idea what that'll do to the "Morel season" here

That is crazy! Maybe the Morels are only popping up where they are protected from the elements. Because dont they usually prefer slight hillsides? I did the same thing almost here. Ive looked everywhere here without any finds aside from old dried last years mushies to that one scarlet cup and some Ganoderma. So I went east along the Ohio to see if it was any better. It seems better but no new fruits of anything there either. I read that mycelium just stunts in the cold. So it will likely just halt the growing above the surface for a few days. I dunno. Good luck though mayn! Im almost ready to stop looking but its hard when others are finding them. Just not near me yet.

Ah man, don't give up! Your area is some of the best Morel areas around, from what I've read. Give it a little bit and I'm sure you'll come back with buckets!

Gyromitra is the main lookalike but its really not that alike a Morel. You should also consider the environment they grow in. If its polluted or has had insecticides sprayed on the property I wouldn't eat those  I also would suggest posting pictures on here if you're unsure. This forum is awesome on Identification!
