dude I used to trip the fuck out to secret of mana soundtrack no joke. Listening to it on acid or shrooms is intense. I dreamed this music.

Music and math are pretty good qualities to have. No point studying your own language when you live next to a country with like 2000 characters lol
Also Asia had access to horses first. They have a lot of experience with violens.

Im on acid now and i just listened to a lot of that and it was awesome man, really brought me back to how gaming use to be. I miss it so much, stupid nostalgia.

I started to play Mana once or twice in the past but never progressed far, due to the arpg combat and some graphics hangups, having played Chrono Trigger first - and the translation/script is of a lower quality, but the story itself seems pretty tight. I'm starting to play it again on my tablet, I'm pretty excited about it. I love some of the music in the game, particularly this track (as well as the title opening):
I'll plan to re-attempt Seiken Densetsu 3 afterwards, and I don't know if I'll get into Earthbound, but I'm putting that on the list as well.

I would play Earthbound on the emulator, it's an awesome game, but like pokemon it sometimes lends itself better to spamming the fast forward button.

From being too long methinks. Earthbound is trippy as fuck though.
Secret of mana is one of my most favorite of games of all time though, partially because of the music I think. But the game combined with it..
The ruins level as well is insane. I've had this music stuck in my brain for WEEKS before

Earthbound isn't that linear. Maybe in a fixed path sense but most RPGs play that way. Have you played the translated Mother 3 rom? That's a good game. Far more linear than Mother2/Earthbound though, it's chapter based.

Not at all, there are no side quest in the entire game, besides 1 where you walk around a dungeon with hopes that a "King's *****" will drop but the chances of you getting that are like 1 in 100, which is almost impossible to just 'want.'

Side Quests are what you were referring to in terms of linearity? I could see it then. I don't think the early Final Fantasies had side quests either, but I may be wrong.

I'm talking 1 & 2 here. I haven't beaten them though so I can make any statements with certainty. But every place I went to in game seemed like a preordained plot point/building block to future progress.
