I'd like to present some information about the current situation in Ukraine, free from my own bias.
Here's a video news report, there is some interesting footage and information presented within.
And now, some history on Crimea, to better understand the crisis. A good explanation of the political divide.
It's too long to copy to here, but considering Crimea has such a complex history, I recommend and highly encourage giving it a read - you may gain better understanding of the causes of recent events.

Simferopol, Ukraine (CNN) -- [Breaking news update at 11:41 a.m.]
Opposition leader Vitali Klitschko plans to ask Ukrainian interim President Oleksandr Turchinov to call for an immediate emergency session of Parliament, Klitschko's party, the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform, said on its website Saturday. Klitschko wants the Parliament to vote to invalidate the current Black Sea Fleet Naval Base agreement with Russia, according to UDAR's website.

The head of Russia's upper house of Parliament said in televised comments Saturday that she plans to ask Russian President Vladimir Putin to recall the Russian ambassador to the U.S. "After the recent statements by the U.S. President threatening Russia and saying that Russia will face costs for the actions in Crimea, we have to act adequately, so we decided to address the (Russian) President and ask for a recall of the Russian ambassador from the U.S. The decision will be made by the President, but we have the right to express our point of view," Valentina Matvienko, chairwoman of the Federal Council, said.

The United Nations Security Council is planning to hold informal consultations Saturday at 2 p.m. to address the situation in Ukraine, the U.N. said.

You might find it ironic that I titled this thread "Unbiased" considering I'm using CNN for the main source on this info... but all things considered, it's pretty much just speculation and observation at this point anyway.

Putin has already asked the Russian parliament permission to undertake military action in Ukraine (not only in the Crimea). It's highly likely that the tanks in that image will be used in one way or another pretty soon. It's more or less inconceivable that the EU will respond to this in any significant way before Putin can unfold his activities.

However, the fact the troops in the video are unmarked and won't give up their identity/purpose makes things a little more mysterious.

I can see how this could possibly escalate into a major war, the United States really need to keep their fucking noses out of this to prevent that from happening. I understand it's a very complex situation and I'm hoping cooler heads will prevail and it will come to an end peacefully

I don't think the US or the EU will go to war over Ukraine, could be another Chechnya. Peace is as unlikely IMO as a large scale war.

It is my understanding that the USA purposely incited the riots in Kiev in order to force regime change from a Russian puppet to a NATO puppet.
This is a power play to reduce Russia's power on a global scale. Russia has important oil pipelines and other assets in Ukraine. Which is why Russia is willing to move in militarily. Russia's economy would suffer without the Ukraine.
New USA tactic - purposely incite mass riots in target country in order to force regime change. It worked in Libya, they tried with Syria (failed) and now want it to happen in Ukraine.
Russia has been a thorn in the USA's side ever since they backed the Syrian president and prevented another NATO mass carpet-bombing like with Libya.
It's a global game of power and control that the US is playing here, and a very dangerous one at that.

UN and the States need to show soem strength and stop the Russian invasion. Right now there is no leader capable of dealing with Putin.

The EU is perfectly capable of presenting a strong opposition to Putin's plan of action, but entirely too cowardly. The EU is a huge market for Russian energy. They could threaten a total boycott, but they would never dream of disrupting the status quo in that way, so they'll just issue stern statements. The UN can do absolutely nothing, and the US would probably just fuck things up (is probably already fucking things up behind the scenes).

Lion, Russia has nukes and not just like they have FOAB thermobaric bombs the size of tactical nukes and little restraint to use them.
Its easy to say with the biggest nuclear arsenal and biggest standing army of the world that europe is too cowardly, Russia could wipe a whole continent off the map.
