Apparently, there are no deadly shrooms that look like liberty caps growing in the UK. So it's all good

Sorceroom: it is never safe to assume that. there may be none known presently but that dosen't mean you will not be the first to find one.
i am sure there are some potentialy dangerous conocybes at the least that might cohabitate with grassland species of psilocybe.

Paid: i'll be your friend for ever if you help make up an faq contribution on this matter. this is a frequent enough line of questions that i'm sure it would be given consideration.

Along a path I walk this night, clear to no other eyes than mine.
In faerie circles perchance I might, hope Elven honey bread to find.
Over stream and tangled root I leap, o'er bough and slumbering badger's keep.
Under hoary oak and willow I bound, to find such groves as can be found,
the sating mushrooms; spring's delight, as gifts from figures of the night.

I have a depressing feeling its going to be a few weeks yet before southern england gets the proper soaking it needs :frown:
Ajoc I agree - bit of sporadic rain wont be much help cause its been so warm and dry for so long.
The odd autumnal species is starting to appear, but for big flushes of shrooms the prediction of the BMS is that, in the south at least, the season will be late & much reduced.
This is what happened last year (although not nearly so extreme) in the London area, but we were still blessed with a very wet and productive end-of-season with abundant shrooms in mid-late November (I am speaking mostly of Ps. cyanescens, but lib caps too).  Hopefully this will happen again...

Yeah, the grounds far to dry, still worth looking alone
river banks and in wet lands :-) and damp woods.
But this is going to be a short season for sure.

Is it raining in wales? I know scotlands had some rain.

well.. you may recall, I started picking last year at mid-july, but with the unusually dry weather I still haven't seen a single one up here yet....
I reckon either it's going to be a bumper late autumn harvest, given plenty of rain and a late frost, or else a really bad year.....not that last year was that good either:(

they grow all over. everywhere there is grass. real easy to spot: after you spot the first one, the rest all jump out to say hi. another week or two i reckon, after the rains. my fave spot got ringfenced with barbed wire, so i'll have tp jumpo in the car, hit the road, and turn off when i see a cow  - that's what i did to find the last spot

Wahey, England England uber alles etc etc
