White Worms
    #1906331 - 09/11/03 05:44 PM (11 years, 14 days ago)

A lot of my pan subs have little white worms in the stem and a few get up in the gills on the cap. If i get rid of them can i still eat them? they are just in the live ones and stuff. I am hoping this isn't a problem as long as i get rid of them. Also, should i worry about my other shrooms that i have dried with ones that had worms. i mean, they all do that are big, but some of the little ones i don't think were infected yet. i am so pissed i can not even express it. They are about half centimeter in length.

Drying them quickly seems to kill them off. So, next time fan dry them straight away.
A few times I have noticed little maggots in some of my shrooms while fan drying, but by a few hours, they stopped eating and squirming around.
When I put some straight into the dessicant chamber, I checked back a day later, and they had eaten half of my goddamned mushroom.
And yeah, they're fine to eat.

I make tea if I they're bad- that way I don't have to think about eating worms, just drinking their essentials. I'm scared of the crunch and munch taste.

When you make tea with buggy shrooms, the buggies float out of the caps and to the top of the water (while steeping on the stove).
-It's not at all appealing.

That shit should be an episode- you have to eat bug mushroom tea and then proceed down a spiraling slide of death on a major freak out. I'd watch that.

Yea those worms do make me look sick and i think their maggots from this type of gnat looking thing kinda like a fruit fly but for mushrooms... I see them on Large Boletes all the time especially when they are all rotten is sorta smelly... Little maggots will be squirming around in the mushroom alot...

In my opinion its one disgusting and Unappetizing...
