Scary poisonous mushrooms in my house
    #19041366 - 10/27/13 05:25 PM (8 months, 21 days ago)

Could someone please ID these mushrooms that are growing in my bathroom, I thought they were cute until this morning I woke up to all the black shit around them!

Wow, that's out of control. You really need to be more sterile about your living situation, whatever it may be.

The black dust you see under them is the spores they have dropped.

They are a Coprinellus species (Coprinellus domesticus is a very good candidate), and are not poisonous. The 'black shit' are the spores. The mushrooms themselves are perfectly harmless, but if they are able to grow in your bathroom, who knows what else could be there! Some of the domestic molds can have very toxic spores.

That's what I'd call them, C. domesticus. Cool!

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

I thought you had to be sterile while growing mushrooms! :wellholyshit:
That is pretty awesome!

 I had this one time many moons ago. I was clean but I had a slumlord whom refused to fix ANYTHING! So I had molds and fungi growing everywhere in my bathroom. Bleach couldn't touch it. Needless to say I moved as quick as I could.

Even if they were an edible variety of Coprinellus I wouldn't dare eat them. Who knows what they are bio-remediating out of your bathroom. lol.
