Fall mushrooms of OH.
    #18757074 - 08/25/13 09:03 PM (10 years, 7 months ago)

I have been searching this site and others for a list of both edible and magic mushrooms which grow in the fall in Ohio with no great luck. Can someone please let me know which edible or magic mushrooms grow in Ohio from now until late fall? I know theres only 7 kinds of magic mushies here and they are rare. Ive been searching everyday. I got permission to some awesome farmlands and forests in the process. Much appreciated TY in advance

Im wiki searching the 8 known psychoactive mushrooms 9 if you include Amanita which i do even though its not a psilocybin containing mushroom. and so far I found this info.

1. Gymnopilus aeruginosus - summer, fall and winter (warmer climates)

2. Gymnopilus luteus - from June-November

3. Panaeolus cinctulus - from spring - fall

4. Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata - are most common from April to mid June but they occasionally fruit as late as November.

5. Amanita Muscaria - summer and fall

Edibles (non psychoactive) I have found now in the late summer.

1. Chicken of the woods (Laetiporus sulphureus)

2. Giant puffball (Calvatia gigantea)

3. Meadow mushroom (Agaricus campestris)

4. King Bolete (Boletus edulis)

5. Boletus bi-color (Boletus sensibilis)

6. Indian Pipe (Monotropa Uniflora)

7. Dryad's saddle (Polyporus squasmosus)

There are 2000 or more kinds of wild mushrooms in Ohio I would like to have a list of the edible, psychoactive and poisonous (make you sick or die) mushrooms of ohio. Im not writing a book but If I had said list I could research each one individually and make my own big green book like the one I cant seem to find from childhood. I would make it my goal to find every fungus on the list lol. Check em off like Im on a scavenger hunt! I really do feel like a scientist. A mad scientist (evil laugh)  :robawet:
