idk if there are any real differences.... rye is usually more expensive, but I've noticed faster colonization of my cakes, denser mychorzial networks, and better pin sets, but this can all be from other factors or could just be a "plecibo effect" on my brain, lol. But I also can buy this at my local super market, whereas they don't carry BRF.
I have the same bag of rye flour in my pantry. When I first started growing I subbed that for BRF all the time and it worked great. These days however the rye flour is for delicious bread and my myc eats a stead diet of WBS and Coir.
Rye has more fiber and about the same sugar as BRF..BRF however has more total carbohydrates...though I think mushies prefer carbs from sugar...so perhaps the increased fiber is to blame for the perceived differences?
